evening, a mackerel sky

Sep 02, 2010 19:24

I am writing this sitting at my table, and looking out at the sky. It is evening; 18:57.
From where I am sitting, the sun has set, gone down behind the roof of the building outside my window, on the other side of the wall. There are small clouds pressed in flat scales against the darkening blue; a mackerel sky.
I can hear footsteps on the fake wooden floorboards in the sitting room, the lawn mower outside, the hum of the laptop, and the clock in the hall.
I am wondering about people, and thinking, is there anyone out there, who at this moment, is wondering if there is anyone out there wondering about whether there is anyone out there who is wondering... ...

Summer is nearly over;
school starts again on the 6th.
