tread softly because you tread on my dreams

I was a passenger in a van, driving down through Scotland
by Loch Lomond, and we were driving, the lake on the left, and a forest on the right
the sun was shinning, sweet, through the trees,
dappled shade on the road, everything, green, sun, yellow, shade,
and the light playing in the trees
and the water, so cool and deep, deep down, and
I wanted to drown my soul in that cool, sweet water,

and it was such joy, a summer afternoon, and everything was full
warm, brown, so kind
so beautiful
and I thought, God, I love life.
and I do, I love it so

and I want to
hang on to it

never let go

but

I would hate to live forever, no,
no meaning then

I want to live
to be unafraid,
to seize life with both hands, my eyes wide open, live, live.
