Inundated (2 of 2) R | EunHae | AU; Angst Summary: He prefers the drowning. Warning: SiHae A/N: This is boring. Also wordy. Move along, kids, nothing to see here. 8,719 words -- ( Read more... )
So yeah, finally a new story! I was waiting for you:):):)
To tell the truth, when I started to read it, I told myself: "Okay, I'll just finish it and then I will tell her I don't get it and that's it." And maybe I should still do it, because, seriously... Donghae is just impossible to understand.
But firstly I need to say thank you for making him the bad guy, or whatever he is.. I mean, this time he is the hurting one, and I will just go and stupidly assume that you did it for me. Hahahaha. Because, I don't know, I read so many fanfics where he is the hurt one and I was just tired of it.
And back to the story. I gave myself all this time to think about this story and when it comes to it, Donghae might not be that complicated or hard to understand after all. He seems kind of stupid and bit of cruel (especially the first part, he seems like a sociopath or something.. I can't really explain it but the way he thinks.. It's just like he's constantly irritated and bored and his thoughts barely fit his actions..) But on the other hand, everything seems pretty simple, he had Siwon, who probably wasn't good for him at all, but still is the one that Donghae desire.. And he is killing his boredom in the meantime with Hyukjae, and when Siwon comes back, Donghae is just selfish and goes for it. He might have some feelings for Hyukjae, but it's not how world works, so he just fulfills his whim.
I don't know if this story was deeper than that, so please go and just enlighten me if so, because your stories tend to leave me with this feeling of not completely understanding them. You just put so peculiar details, or maybe it's the way you write that makes my brain breaks a little..
Also, I wanted to tell you that Donghae's character really remind me one of my friends, who completely doesn't know what she's doing and she usually chooses the wrong person (because she is that lucky and she actually has a choice). And someone said in the comments that Donghae was clueless, so I will go with that, because it at least realistic to me.
It's nice to finally not to feel sorry for him. He was kind of terrible, right? Except of this one time with soup and finishing Hyukjae's work.. But in the end, I hate people like this, so I'm kind of happy that Hyukjae left him.
And Hyukjae's character seems to be kind of absent in this story, but maybe it's because the story was from Donghae's pov, who just doesn't pay much attention to him. Anyway, it's hard to judge him, so I wont. :) Thanks for another good story! I was very happy to see it:):):)

Okay at least it served its purpose. (Or the lack of which) We're not supposed to understand Donghae (because clearly nobody does, save for Youngwoon, a little bit. But I doubt if he understands himself. I don't think so).
Also, that's another point - him being the 'bad guy' because it's conventionally Hyukjae. Or both of them being stupid at the same time. Now it's him. (I had hesitations on switching their characters but I was lazy so I didn't switch in the end.)
But my point is that I don't think he's doing it on purpose. He's an antisocial pretend person and he just does whatever it is that come his way. His life is generally boring. And as his sister puts it, he's serious about nothing and nobody, at all. It turns out he was. He was serious about Siwon. (It might not be love, I mean, he has a different view on love, it doesn't qualify to me as love. But he was serious.) The thing is he meant it. He meant it when he said goodbye to Siwon and he meant it when he got together with Hyukjae. But he also meant his feelings for Siwon. And it's confusing. And it's weird, too, I mean, what's the truth?
But it's supposed to hurt more because everything is true (other than his lying to Hyukjae about stuff) and he doesn't know how to weigh his feelings toward people because he doesn't know how to feel. And you're supposed to hate him. But also feel sorry for him.
Because he's never going to be happy.
