Time for the third trimester!

Everything is still seeming just fine, which I am thrilled about.
I'll know more on Wednesday when I actually see my doctor, and get the results from the tests I had last week--glucose challenge and general bloodwork, nothing too odd. My BP was a little high at the last appt, too, though it has looked OK at home since then; still, they'll be watching that closely. I am officially off prednisone this week, as well--finally, for the first time in 9 months!--and I am really hoping to stay off it indefinitely.
The kid is pretty active now, but not big enough that the kicking hurts just yet. Most kicks are directed downward, which tests my reflexes, shall we say.
I'm picking up a bunch of the nuisance-y pregnancy symptoms, now... mainly swelling and the things swelling causes, particularly carpal tunnel syndrome. I'm struggling a lot with that, because there really are precious few things I do which don't require using my fingers. :) We went on three quite short hikes yesterday in lovely weather, none of them strenuous or at all challenging--and my ankles looked like two pufferfish. (I have not caved in and bought support hose because I am a) too vain and b) too hot to wear anything extra anyway, even if it's not that warm.) None of it is all that bad, but I imagine it's going to wear on me over time. Overall though, I am still really enjoying being pregnant. I've never been so un-moody in my life, honestly. I wish that part could last!
Over the weekend, we went to Louisville/Lexington KY to judge a BBQ contest that was loosely affiliated with Derby week. We hmmmed about going to the Derby, but I couldn't stomach the thought of the infield at this point... sitting on the ground (and worse, having to stand up from sitting on the ground!), plus long bathroom lines, errr, wellll...no, please? We went to Keeneland instead, where there were a more manageable 45,000 people having a similar party, and bet on some horses that didn't come in the right order. (We had all three top three finishers, plus a few duds--but we needed the photo finish to go the other way, alas!) and generally had a festive time complete with plenty of juleps for D and real live chairs (and plumbing) for me.
Oh...and I'm not letting the kid gamble ever: after his abysmal picks in the NCAA tournament, he topped it by picking the horse that finished dead last. :)
Small inroads have been made in the still-daunting task of creating a space for the baby in the house. So far there is grand total of a changing table in the nursery...we have a crib and dresser to set up, and have made some space for it by moving my desk out of there, but I need to find my motivation. I think we have finally picked out a few of the other large items...car seat, stroller, etc...but there is some trepidation involved with actually purchasing the things, somehow.
I can't feel my hands anymore, so that's enough nattering for now.
