I ate sheep pizza.
There is nothing more i can add to that statement.
Unfortunately for you, im going to add an additional page anyway. Sorry.
We got a puppy at the house. Her name is Coka (not sure why) and she's 4 weeks old. I'm pretty sure getting a puppy that young would be illegal in the US, and with good reason, Coka is absolutely tiny, and like little Bebita at the orphanage, she cries whenever shes not held. Its particularly annoying when your trying to sleep, so i kick her whenever no ones looking.
Ok, actually not. I'm not quite that demented yet.
But she is cute in an annoying sort of way.
I catch myself thinking that its June or July already, and when I keep hearing the Mexican version of the ice cream man song, it adds to my seasonal confusion.
It feels like summer here. The atmosphere, even when I'm working is so relaxed and carefree, kind of like the days will never end. And the weather......!!!!!
Actually I'm not going to tell you poor Washington fools about the weather here. You'd probably kill me out of spite. But enough about me, how are things back home? Hows the.... Rain?
Alright Alright, no more of that. But seriously, its sooooooo nice here.
Or at least i thought so until i talked with mi madre the other morning. Apparently the coming months are supposed to be the hottest Guadalajara has had in 20 years.
Well don't that just figure. Oh well, i think i'll manage to endure somehow.
Got a new roommate. So now theres 3 of us crammed nice and cozy in this little room.
And its great.
I was really not looking forward to having someone else living with me, figured she'd probably be a bit of a prick and it would be painful living. Not so. Laura is GREAT. So much fun. I am so comfortable around Laura, reservation went out the door as soon as she walked in. She's only just arrived but we've already started our reign of chaos. She is definitely my type of person.
Last weekend Tonio
Rojo
Isai
and I
went to Tapalpa. Random little city in the mountains, apparently its one of the 7 “magical” cities in Mexico, though what makes it magic i can only guess. Seemed fairly normal to me. Anyway, Isai's family has a little cabin up in the woods and we stayed there for a night then met Luis (otra hermano)
as he finished his bike race there the next day.
It was very cool. As you can see.
Unfortunately it was a little too nice and i ended up with a great sunburn. And by great i mean painful.
Tonio finds it amusing to slap my shoulder whenever he sees me.
Brothers....
All in all, I've really gotten into my comfort zone down here.
-The weather is great, i cant even remember what rain and clouds are like.
-Laura adds daily entertainment of one sort or another.
-The job has become second nature, and I'm feel attached to most all the kids or students.
-I've made loads of friends, both volunteers and Mexicans.
-Mi familia is wonderful, Antonio es un hermano perfecto and Viki and I have been getting along a lot better in the last month or so (Not that we ever fought or had any problems to begin with, but the first month or so was a tad awkward because, well... you're suddenly sharing a room with a person you don't know and are expected to get along with them. It was mostly a bit weird because we're very different people and it took a while to get accustomed to each other).
-My gradual increase in Spanish comprehension and speaking ability has also helped me feel a lot more sure of myself down here.
Everything feels so great living here, but some days i still miss Seattle and my friends like a fat kid misses cake and ice cream.
I know its really not, but sometimes 3 months seems like a long time.
Special thanks to the Postal Service, Jefferson Airplane, and John Lennon for helping me get through this week.
