Tonight I baked another cake. What can I say? I am a little bit in love with Donna Hay...and also Lauren forced me. My little project for the year is to gather recipes from family and friends and of course myself, into a compilation of sorts. I want to share those recipes that you keep coming back to, or feel good to make, or are some sort of family classic or favourite. You know the sort Im talking about. It stems from my constant inability to think of things to cook for dinner and also a general desire to share the love, as it were.
I've also decided to copy Lauren in listing all the new movies/books I've watched/read this year. I think it'll be interesting. So far I have watched Mongol and Moon, and almost finished The Lovely Bones. The movie looks good too.
Avatar was real nice. I named one of my fish Na'vi.
Summer is yucky and I don't like it one bit. I have one of those faces that just sweats too much and one of those bodies that shuts down in warm weather. To make it worse my car has decided to not work. The ignition barrel has worn out so I can't even turn the key. It's a simple problem to fix, just requiring a locksmith, but I've been quoted $240 WTF even is that!? Tell him he's dreaming. The point about my car is related to my hatred of summer because now Lauren has to drive us to work every day. And she does not have aircon. No aircon. None. Right now my car is at the local IGA where it left me stranded (thanks, Kathryn!) and there it will stay until I can come up with a plan involving <$240.
This weekend coming up is going to be amazing. Do you want to know why? It is bulk refuse collection the week after and our house has a whole lot of crap that needs to be chucked out. I am going to spend the entire weekend clearing, sorting, organising, culling, and deep cleansing. It will feel so good. That sounds a lot more lame written down than I thought it would.
New Years was very drunken and sleepy. I don't think anyone was in a super party mood due to the fact that most of us had worked long days and it was a Thursday which is just weird. Never-the-less we had a good dance or two, we sang, talked shop, lost Andrew, found Andrew, nearly lit Hershal on fire, swam a little and played our traditional 'resolution guessing game'. It was pretty alright. I had a hell of a hangover the next day to prove it. Friday was spent sleeping, hating myself, eating unusually good wokinabox, and watching old VHS tapes that I stole from my parents house. It was oddly appropriate. Btw, I was a very scary looking child, and my grandfather was hilariously old Aussie, Kath & Kim style.
One day very soon when it cools down enough I will finish the green coat on my bedroom walls.
I just remembered something else very exciting that has happened recently. Lauren bought me an eggwhisk from Modcloth with one of the wires bent into the shape of a squirrel. It's called a woodland critter whisk. Amazing.
I just remembered something very disappointing. Cannot find calendar with antlered animals in it :(
