A working-class hero is something to be.

For the last week I've been working a job at a packing plant in this city. I rose at 6:00, went to work, stayed on my feet for ten hours, and came home and basically passed out. The job pays pretty well, mostly because nobody wants to do it at all, and it lasts anywhere from three to six weeks during the summer, so my parents and my aunt and uncle in this city decided that I could stay for three and get some money for college.

Or, as it turns out, six days. The season ended yesterday and we were all dismissed. I hadn't even worked a full week.

I came home at the end of the day, called my mom, and said "I'm unemployed now!" She did the vocal equivalent of ellipsing. One of the boys at the plant had mentioned that a cafe in town had asked if he wanted to be a dishwasher, so I called them after work. They weren't open, but we called again today.

I spent five minutes on the phone and now I have another job.

Why isn't getting hired this easy in Seattle?

sucks to be brian, in transit, wtf
