An update beyond the normal throwing-a-useless-entry at you guys, because I've been lazy.
For those who wondered about my mostly-unannounced absence, I spent the last three days at
gandsgirl's house, as both my parents were out of town and no older sibling was around to make sure I wasn't eaten by a freak influx of rabid bears. We were extremely girly and gave ourselves pedicures while watching Red Dwarf. I have so much love for Rimmer now: "I had lived a life as Alexander the Great's chief eunuch!"
We dined out at restaurants frequently, got lost in downtown Ballard, sacked Archie McPhee's (
rhombal,
madame_enjolras,
thelessonoftime, I've got novelty goods for you), bought books, and drank oolong tea in what was either the traditional Chinese or contemporary Taiwanese manner; the teahouse owner wasn't exactly specific about that. We also watched Rent and somehow I wound up crying while she didn't. Mark that in your memories, everyone. That's the only time that'll ever happen.
It's gotten so damn cold out, all of a sudden. Earlier this week it still seemed like summer, and now I'm instinctually considering buying yarn to knit scarves. I need to dig out what jackets I want to take to college (definitely my trusty black leather #1; of red leather and black leather #2, I don't know-- I wear way too much leather for a vegetarian). And I need to buy more socks. "Why is it that no matter how many millions of pairs of socks I buy I never seem to have any?"
I've got little of actual personal reflection to say, except that I've decided the "goth" look is absolutely beautiful and I'd like to try to start wearing it-- if only wearing makeup didn't make me automatically look like a forty-year-old homemaker. Yes, even if it is blue lipstick and black eyeshadow.
I should go to bed and I need to balance my checkbook before I go to sleep. I have to figure out if I have enough money to buy a fountain pen tomorrow.
