Hi there -- I feel a bit silly, but what does "peace-tied" mean?
I was considering bringing my Renaissance-style rapier, which doesn't have a sheath, but also doesn't have a tip (it's got that hard styrofoam thing taped to the tip instead, since I do in fact use it for fencing). Would that be all right?
Essentially it means that the blade has a sheath, and it is zip tied into the sheath.
I have to say no to you bringing it. Well, you can bring it and leave it in the hotel room, but not to Salon Con. The point of the rule is for the safety of everyone. While a styrofoam tip taped to it makes it safe for fencing, that is a controlled environment between 2 people. We are worried about the safety of everyone in a open environment, and the blade is exposed, free, and can easily be wielded.
