Thirded.

This reminds me more of something that happened at the last event:

Before the music from Abney Park, I bumped into Robert talking to Daniel with bitter concern over the sound system. They were convinced that because of the technical difficulties that things wouldn't work and that the audience would think that they "sucked."

I spoke up and told him that it doesn't matter what they'd do on stage, that it'd be awesome either way. People are into Steampunk and Abney Park because of what they represent, not outward appearances and that a few glitches here and there wouldn't deter anyone.

They thanked me for my sentiment but honestly didn't seem convinced. I can't remember how many sound checks I heard before the doors opened, plus more sound checks after everyone was filed inside.

However, when the show finally started and the speakers started to crackle and overload (to the point that the members of the band winced) every time it happened -- every time -- the crowd cheered -louder-.

In the end, those who invest money into this endeavor to make it happen need to make the choice, as it is their risk; however, the Steampunk community on the East Coast is getting stronger every month, even in this blasted economy.

No matter what happens (be it another full-blown SalonCon or simply Tea, or even something inbetween), my entire family will be there.

-Darius
