~Blooddrop Horses & Spring Simplicities 2013 Update~
Happy Spring!
This update is very perfume-centric with the arrival of six new horse scents and ten selections for Spring Simplicities. I tried to listen to your suggestions for Simplicity requests, so I hope you will be happy with the offerings! (Some of your requests I hope to offer at a later date, so don’t fret!)
There are two new Flutters; the much-requested Lavender Honey has returned and there is also a pure Honeysuckle Flutter, which is gorgeous!
Similarly, there are two new Linen & Chamber sprays; Cygnus has returned and White Lilac is a limited edition offering. I know I always want the scent of lilac to linger in my house longer than a fresh cut bouquet allows, so my solution is a linen spray!
The Musk collection will stick around a bit longer. It is a large collection and I know you are still picking and choosing from it!
Coming after this update will be something very new and colorful from Blooddrop. Keep your eyes ready and nails naked! (What? Who says that? What does that mean?!?!)

Gem Twist
When I was a kid in the 80's, I used to watch Budweiser-sponsored Grand Prix Show Jumping on ESPN on Saturdays. One horse that I saw again and again, who won tons was Gem Twist ridden by Greg Best. These guys cleaned then house like nobody's business. They even went to the Seoul Olympics and he was Horse of the Year 1987. There was a big annual horse show in my area that I would attend every summer and one year, my friend, Cindy and I were walking through the temporary stables. We came across Gem Twist. He was small! Well, not tiny just much smaller than expected! He was so sweet. Just a kind, even tempered horse who loved attention. No one was there, so we gave him pets and took each others picture with him. It was like meeting a movie star! This scent is for this awesome, power busting, super sweet guy. Bright and forward lemon verbena, michelena alba, white tea, rosemary and a touch of frankincense.
Head over Hooves
Little girls and horses. What happens to us exactly? We fall in love with these beautiful, powerful, gracious, and wild creatures. We go bananas over them. It's all we can think about. It's all we draw. All we want for Christmas is horse. All we want to do is collect Breyer horse models and put our Barbies on them. We treat our bicycles as horses and name them and designate what breed and color they are. We wear horse T shirts and horse pajamas and sleep in horse print bedding. Horses! Horses! Horses! This scent is for us who went head over hooves in love with these animals. Sweet Anjou pear, pink grapefruit, pink lotus, Buddha's hand, honey, green tea, baobab, gardenia and peach all aged to perfection like the little girl who has grown to a woman, but it still madly in love with horses.
Hippoi Athanatoi
The Hippoi Athanatoi were the immortal horses of the gods in the Greco-Roman era. They were the four winds, in horse form, who drew Zeus' chariot. Hippokampoi (in French, 'hippocampe' means seahorse) was one of the Hippoi Athanatoi who drew Poseidon's chariot under the sea. Pegasus was also an Hippoi Athanatoi. Helios, the sun god, also had several Hippoi Athanatoi under his command. This perfume is a regal and divine blend of benzoin, ambrette, white tea, honey, fig, ginger, neroli, bergamot, and mogra attar.
Marengo
Marengo was Napoleon Bonaparte's well known, small Arabian stallion nicknamed after carrying Napoleon from the battle of Marengo. Napoleon had a small stable of very well trained stallions (he being a horrifically, poor equestrian), but of all, Marengo is the most famous. The small stallion was captured during the Battle of Waterloo and lived to be in his 30's. His skeleton was disinterred and can be seen on display in a museum in London. Marengo was famously captured for eternity with his rider in paint by Jacques-Louis David. Marengo's perfume is French cognac, French cherry brandy, rum, pure cream butter, black pepper and sandalwood.
Moorlands Totilas
Moorlands Totilas, commonly known in the horse world as just Totilas, is a black Swedish Warmblood stallion who stands a rather tall 17.1 hands. Totilas made history a few years ago with his rider, Edward Gal, during the 2010 FEI (La Federation Equestre Internationale) World Cup Dressage competition breaking highest ranking scores and setting records. Totilas and Gal were a particularly spectacular pair when it came to freestyle kur, which is when horse and rider create a riding pattern to music demonstrating a combination of very elevated movements in dressage. Totilas is phenomenally, physically talented and Edward Gal was his perfect rider, bringing out the utmost best of him. Totilas is like a super hero horse of the dressage world with his abilities. His fragrance is deep, dark, elegant with an underlying force. Amber, vetiver, vanilla, davana, attar denoul oud, peru balsam and fenugreek.
Uffington Horse
The Uffington Horse is not living horse per se, but an ancient character and symbol dug in to the earth of Great Britain that has been filled in with chalk. The Uffington horse dates to be from the Bronze Age, back when they were building henges and such. There has been debate whether a horse was specifically intended in the shape, but a horse had been decidedly signified since the 11th century. There have been other horses carved into British soil, but I find the Uffington horse most fascinating. (Also, I love that Terry Pratchett mentions it several times in his Tiffany Aching books!) For me, the Uffington horse shows the depth which which horses have been so deeply rooted in the formation of mankind through the ages and how then and now, we still revere these creatures. The Uffington horse smells of wild, fresh herbs such as lavender, wild chamomile, small violets, mullein, sage, wild roses cozied up to a bed of soft, pale chalk.
Spring Simplicities:
Cherry Almond
Creamy almonds with a smattering of dark cherries. Ne buvez pas!
Green House
This is an accord of various tropical, green, hot house orchid and floral notes to create the scent of walking into a warm greenhouse. Not overly floral.
Honey
This shares both the sweet and floral component of honey's character, but is not overly sweet. Not vegan.
Honeysuckle
A highly requested oil not only customers, but also honey bees and hummingbirds! Although a summertime blossom, this will tide you over until your honeysuckle vine blooms.
Hyacinth
A diffusive and glorious spring blossom. (My son loves to smell these when we go to the grocery store!)
Lemon Cake
Sticky, moist lemon cake with a touch of vanilla and sugar glaze.
Lily of the Valley
Fresh, crisp and oh-so-lovely. A springtime favorite.
Pink Vanilla
Candy-fied vanilla. Totally saccharine, totally girly, totally adorable.
White Lilac
The gorgeous fragrance of this fleeting spring blossom in all its beauty.
Wild Lavender
A beautiful, wild lavender that is soft and gentle.
