in a state of complacency

today started out in the most beautiful way. i woke up in my own bed for the first day in more than two weeks to cool air from my window, beautiful silver skies and soothing, steady rain. these are my favorite types of days. yesterday would, or should, have been better had i not needed to run stupid errands in the heat. the counselors seemed to have forgotten to put me in any english class, let alone ap lang, so i needed to go remind them. and i had to give up french dammit. sorry kari.

oh kate, how i miss thee. talking to you this morning was so great. it's so weird not to have you around. what are we going to do when school comes around? you can just live in my locker.

there is a strike going on in south african airways. so my brother was stuck there for two extra days. yesterday he finally got to london. today he is in new york. he flies to washington this afternoon. he's broke and pretty pissed off too. that could be because of the fact that he's spent his summer salary trying to get home or about 36 hours without sleep. or a combination of both. we're wiring money to him, but sleep, unfortunately, is more difficult to send. poor guy.

on that note, i'm going to eat a cookie with coffee, and take a nap.
