I bought Winamp Pro like, wow, eons ago and decided to install it on my lap top last night (I'll get to why in a moment).
I love Winamp. I love Winamp on DSL even more.
Winamp TV, or shoutcast Tv, or whatever the hell it's called is genius.
I've spent the last hour or so watching Simpsons episodes (I miss seeing those) and now I have Jpop music videos running in the background.
I mean, wow. Where else could I do this? It's awesome.

It's odd how when you leave a certain enivornment some of your thinking patterns alter as well.
When I was at EB I always felt like I wanted stuff; Games, systems, weird accessories, other techincal wackiness... I guess when you have a general interest in this kind of stuff anyways and then are surrounded by people who also love this kind of stuff and others who are buying this kind of stuff you just catch the bug to strive to buy it yourself.
Now that I'm away from that sort of enivornment I've kind of reverted back to a lot of my old habits and thinking patterns from before my EB days.
I don't feel the need to own every game that I want to play, for example. I also don't feel the need to have the best version of whatever I might be interested in getting.
For example:
I love video games and there are a lot that I want to play, but intill I worked at EB I rarely actually bought anything unless it was something that I had to have (In other words, Mario/Zelda/Street Fighter/Occasional Puzzle Game). When I worked at EB it was kind of like, "Hmm.. Looks interesting. I'll blow fifty on it."
... Yeah, that's not going to happen anymore.
What I plan to do is take a page from Peter's book and get Gamefly in the next few months. It's cheaper than renting and I doubt I'll ever have trouble adding an odd ball title to my que. Besides, instead of selling stuff on eBay when I'm done with it like I've been doing it for a few months I can just toss it in a mail box.

The second thing I've been thinking about for god-knows-how-long is picking up an MP3 player. I was thinking that I wanted to take my whole music collection with me, but, the more I think about it the dumber that seems to me. I guess my wake up for this one has been this past week -- I made an MP3 cd for the car that I've also been dragging into work with me. I've been listening to it pretty regualarly all week (Hell, even skipped one of the albums I had put on there) and I still haven't reached the end of the disc yet.
So, that's about 700 megs of music that has been more than enough for all of the week. ... Yeah. That's enough. :-P
I think what I am going to do is either one of two things as far as a music player is concerned --
A) Get a 512mb-1gig MP3 player that doesn't have the title "shuffle" in it
or
B) Get a PSP and a 512/1gig card. I know eventually there are going to be games I want to play for the thing, so, honestly, I can kind of see this happening since I think it would be great to have the ability to play games, listen to music and watch movies (UMD and file ones) all on one device.

I'm so happy I left EB for every possible reasons. I also haven't been stressed out since I left either (I had a twitching eye on and off for about the last two months that I was there. Fuckers need to die). It feels nice having a sane thinking pattern back.
