Happy 2009, everyone :) So far it's looking up!
Also, merry Christmas, or whatever winter holiday happens to be your cup of tea. I spent mine flitting back and forth between Barrie and Ottawa, as much as that 7-hour atrocity of travel can be described as "flitting". Had a good time in both places -- there was lots of lovely food, and I spent some quality time with family and friends who I don't get to see very often.
For Christmas, Henry got me this beautiful pendant (apparently called the "Eye of Shiva") on a lovely chain:
I'm thrilled with it. It's absolutely gorgeous and pretty much all my favourite things rolled into one -- silver, white, spirals, circles, and I just found out it comes from discarded snail shells. I don't think there's any way to make this a better present.
In other girly news, my mom, my sister and I got our colours done! To my surprise, what colours look good on me has very little to do with my hair or eye colour and even less to do with which colours I like -- in fact, it has everything to do with skin tone. As it turns out, I'm a "True Spring". This basically means my colour palette looks like a Singapore Sling -- pale yellows, pinks, and greens. Everything has to be light and airy! ... Arg. My sister lucked out and got the True Autumn palette, which involves deep, intense colours and muddied tones -- in short, everything I like to wear. And I got the palette that she's always wanted. Figures.
Had a great New Year's Eve in Barrie. We did tequila shots, which are a lot of fun (they're like a drinking game all on their own) and don't make me puke the next morning even if I have 6 of them (2 is my usual limit, even on coolers). A definite plus, I say.
And then spent a bunch of time at Henry's parents' place, which has no internet no matter how hard they try. I saw Dirty Harry while I was there and was generally underwhelmed, especially when the director made the grievous error of breaking the 180 rule where it wasn't warranted at all. Alas.
Also, a few art things to post. Nothing terrifically school-related, but enjoyable nonetheless.
First, some Id/Ego/Superego stuff I did a while ago, but only finished yesterday:
And a piece done for a Holiday Art Swap over on
DeviantArt. My partner asked me to colour his pencil fanart of Batman and Wonder Woman, so I inked and coloured it to the best of my ability.
More to come eventually! Though in irritating news, Photobucket has decided that any and all nudity is verboten, so they've determined that my life drawing portfolios are violating their TOS. Great. Sexual exploitation I could understand, but cripes, the models aren't doing anything.
