First Impressions

Moved in to my new abode yesterday afternoon. My room is spacious, but I don't know how to best utilize the unfamiliar arrangement of shelves and drawers and closets, so there's still a pile of stuff in a corner. The chair -- the exact same kind as the one in the dorms -- is at least painfully familiar. I mean that literally.

Awesome things that happened last night:
1. neptune and zeblith came over and made us dinner. Sushi (including peanut butter and blackberry jelly sushi, which is wrong but delicious), peanut butter muffins katmaxwell made, and a little chocolate cheesecake for each of us. You guys, I really can't thank you enough. We watched a video titles Harry Potter in the Hood, which is one of the funnier videos I have seen online. You who have fast internet, check it out.

2. Sleepover at Marysia's. It felt too weird being across the hall, I tell you. I am glad to report that the mattresses are a critical three or four inches wider than last year, which allows two people of our approximate stature to sleep relatively comfortably. I didn't wake up stiff from being unable to move.

3. Getting lost in my own apartment. Some time in the night, I had to use the bathroom, so I got up and entered the hallway. Pitch black. Could not remember the location of the light switch. I can barely navigate the tight, small hallways with light, because I haven't memorized the layout yet. I have to think about where to turn, and...yeah. After bumping into a few walls I returned to marysia's room and grabbed her cellphone to use as a flashlight. Mission successful. Sometimes I honestly wonder if the navigational centers of my brain failed to develop adequately due to my early birth, and finishing the baking in an external oven (incubator) didn't help enough.

Also, our tapwater is so hot you can steep tea in it. It feels kind of wrong, though, like I'm cheapening the stuff.

marysia and I are compiling a list of things we need for the apartment (including food). We plan to go out later -- along with anyone else around here who is available and wants to come. Maybe I'll unpack until everyone is up. My room needs decorations.
