At least Ron Paul has been trying from the beginning! And say what you will about him - I would vote for him in a second if there were no Obama and I didn't know I was throwing my vote away.
He's not against any of those things - he's against the Federal government telling us what we can do. HUUUUUUUGE difference. He believes it should be up the states. Which it should. According to the Constitution.
There's no "bashing" since I am not voting for him or even researching him deeply enough to really defend him. You are never ever ever going to find a candidate who votes the same way as you would, first of all. Second of all I am failing to see how his voting record goes against him wanting the people in each state to choose how they want their state to run. The govt can say: yes, you can try and acquire permits for your refineries, doesn't mean the *people* in the area will let you have them
