Dogs are descendants from wolves, which are pack animals. They need companionship: human, animal, whatever.
Something to think about, however:
-This meands DOUBLE the vet bills. If you can afford it, I'd go with pet insurance.
-This means that if you travel (which most actors dont...) you will need to board them or find pet sitters.
-I don't mean to pry as well, but if you have a serious relationship going on, you are literally bringing in another member into your family. Might want to hit up that lovely man you've been all moon-eyed about and get his permission first. It's not so much that you *need* it, but he will feel like he's part of your "family" and included as well, and will appreciate being thought of as a decision maker in a long-term commitment.
Yes, the vet bills scare the crap out of me for sure.
I seem to have pet sitters coming out of my ears, so I don't worry about that so much.
And oh yes, there will have to be a discussion with him and that may or may not go so well. Except that he loves Milo and loves our little family - he will I am sure be worried about my place being small and crowded...
pet insurance is well worth it if you are one of those people that takes their pet to the vet regularly and also if you would plan to have treatment and stuff if something like cancer happened. that shit is crazy expensive, but insurance is much cheaper in relative terms.
But if you are a person who would just opt to put your pet to sleep if something sever happened...then insurance isn't worth it.
I had pet insurance before and so when I got Milo I got it again and I felt like they covered nothing really. So it was kinda tough for me to justify the $40 a month. I have a care credit card that I will hopefully get paid down before I ever need to use it again.
My friend just had to give her cat a sex change because he had a stone in his urethra - it was crazy expensive. Now she has a girl kitty. Seriously.
