primavera in the veneto

i lept a grande jetter out my front door this morning, or rather, a piccolo jetter, as i get a bit self concious when ballet sneeks its way back into my bones. (it's been about a year since i did a successful split). I managed a friendly "ciao" to the workmen outside rather than the usual HURL...after all they are finally REMOVING THE SCAFFOLDING!!! an event we thought would never come.
some days it seems there is nothing in venice but old ladiesandshittingdogsandtouristsandpigeonsandlouddrillinginthemorningand narrow alleyways that are unable to digest the crowds of pedestrians. i've been unable to warm up to sights like San Marco, the Rialto, and the Grand Canal because i suffer from a fear of the cheeeeeesy, but with only a month left i, find myself embracing them fully. who knows when i'll be back?
the need for my boy is a thirst the canals never seem to quench, but it won't be long before i am with him again. Some think venice has an unpleasant aroma, but i think it smells like the sea, never letting you forget you are afloat.
I wore my tank top with the two kissing fish today. i think it is meant to be one of those painful zodiac sign shirts for teeny bopping pisces, but i like to think of it as an ode to the city and it's Marriage to the Sea, an event which the town will celebrate with costumes and festivities when i am gone. it seems i will miss a lot of the great ceremonies held here, but i am very much present for this sunny day, and i intend to paint the hell out of it. : )
