Merry Christmas! It's actually the 26th over here, but you don't need to know that. ;)
1. Lol at Chinese people "celebrating" Christmas because it's trendy to celebrate foreign holidays, and because anything foreign is trendy. All the nicer apartments/restaurants have sad little 3-feet-tall Christmas trees with sad little decorations, and all the department stores have Christmas lights propped up in a conical shape to resemble a tree.
2. I so did not know that my phone has automatic international roaming. Hey, don't need to buy a new cell phone anymore, nor run around Shanghai phone-less.
3. In Easily!Amused!Sally news, I'm reading The English Patient, which I got from the school library. A previous reader had underlined and notated various passages throughout the book in pen. A second previous reader had then written out a response to every single one of the first person's notations (in pencil). For example:
Person 1: So how did she become one [a nurse]?
Person 2: There was a WAR, you idiot.
Person 1: what was this section about?
Person 2: Why not write your stupid questions in pencil?
Person 1: Is he sighting to see it better? or considering blowing her away?
Person 2: Are you writing these things because you're a moron? or are you trying to ruin this book for others?
