25. Favourite 'small' canon moments
Not sure what this means but I'll give it a shot - one favourite quick bit with most of the characters I love best (note, for most of this lot I have more than one of course, but these are moments I happily rewatch...
Wei Wuxian - dozing off when he and Lan Wangji are meditating... and ending up slumped on Lan Wangji's shoulder :)
Lan Wangji - fiercely and oh so seriously protecting his love against dangerous, deadly... cute fluffy dogs.
Wen Qing - cleaning up the mess Wei Wuxian has made of her medical library before sitting down to methodically research the sacrifice he is insisting on making,
Wen Ning - the dreaded Ghost General trying to sell radishes; me, I would have bought them all.
Nie Huaisang - showing Wei Wuxian the rare canary he stalked (for three days), caught on the way to Gusu summer school, and then smuggled into class... the start of a beautiful (and ultimately pivotal) relationship there.
Lan Xichen - the bit in episode 6 where he calmly accepts - even is amused by - the gremlin student getting drunk... and then wonderfully doubletakes when told his uptight little brother did too.
Nie Mingjue - after deciding not to execute Meng Yao - it's complicated, okay? - the way he tosses his massive sabre without looking but with total accuracy into its stone rest. Okay, they can probably all do it - they have magic! - but this being Nie Mingjue, it's still an awesome power moment. (To be totally honest, my absolute favourite bit for him is in the spinoff, a rare soft little bit where he quietly fusses over his little brother.)
Meng Yao/Jin Guangyao - faced with a drunk and weeping Nie Huaisang draping all over him in the middle of his grand party, the way he blatantly dumps him on Lan Xichen with a "heeeelp me with him!!!!" face. Given how perfectly he usually keeps his mask on, the sheer befuddled helplessness for a minute or two is wonderful :)
Mianmian - the last sight of her heading into her humble but clearly happy home with her ordinary but supportive husband, adorable little girl, and work as a rogue cultivator. Good for her.
Lan Sizhui - the overspiced congee made by Wei Wuxian in Yi City is so bad it gives him deja vu? Pretty heavy foreshadowing there, folks.
Lan Jingyi - politely but quite definitely sassing Sect Leader Jiang of the nasty temper and infamously nasty magic whip.
Jin Ling - getting all defensive about his dog's name in episode 34 (and then when Lan Jingyi calls the same dog fat in a later one. He does love that dog)
