5. Favorite sect or clan
All of the sects have their spectacularly dodgy, dishonest, distasteful and dislikeable sides, let's be honest - Society and the Powers That Be being dodgy, dishonest, distasteful and dislikeable is part of what the whole story is about after all. (...calm, quiet, and oh so beautiful, both the people and the setting, and the way they use music is just my sort of magical jam, but oh those thousands of rules!!!! (...they sound like the best to live with per se, at least if you are an artistic, even effete but also thoroughly indulged sort and yes I am looking straight at you Nie Huaisang. Also there are none of the characters whose faces I want someone to squash. On the other hand, their sabres are a definite minus for me, given that they umm, KILL you while you are using them to kill other folk. That really takes the fun out of fantasy war, y'know).
I wonder if there's a nice little minor sect that no one mentions because they are all actually nice people? Probably... and they're probably all dead too. Not that that stops everyone in this world...
