Who: L and Deidara
What: L questions Deidara concerning the murder of Itachi
When: Friday evening
Where: L's apartment
Warning: Dei being blunt.
There was a rapping at the window of L and Kakashi's apartment.
It was evening, and dusk was finally settling. It was the best time to strike--the sun was dimming, forcing the eyes to continuously focus, yet the bright reddish light merely hindered what people managed to see. So no one noticed another bird in the air--even though it was made out of clay. It had landed on the windowsill, tapping it's beak. There was a tiny slip of paper tucked in his claws.
Finally, he had synced his LP with Kakashi's, allowing him to contact him immediately should he need it. All that was left was to wait.
Upon hearing tapping on his window, L looked up, dark eyes curiously watching to little bird at his window. He rose slowly from his couch, shuffling over to the window sliding it open.
He studied the thing for a moment. It was not real, yet it moved like it was real. He cautiously held out his hand to it.
The tiny bird dropped the piece of paper into L's hand before flitting off into the apartment.
In very flowing handwriting, it read, "Just checking in. 3 minutes."
Taking the tiny slips of paper, L unfolded it, reading it once before stuffing it in his pocket.
Good, he was still coming. L had worked fast, making sure that not only he would have the time to talk to the ninja, but also have the protection should he need it.
Moving again, L went back to his couch, squatting at one end, returning to his tea. He hadn't bothered to close the window, the breeze felt nice in the evening like this.
Finally, the bird zipped past, flying out the window and out inside the sky.
Exactly three minutes later, Deidara came through the window.
He was actually still in his yukata from the festival. It was been washed, painstakingly, frantically, while out in the mountains. He walked into the living room, his long blond hair down, covering half of his face as usual. He was, however, no wearing his pouch with clay over the obi. He merely stared over at L with one eye.
The dark haired male watched, his expression caught up between amusement and curiosity. Fascinating, to be able to come through a window as high up as his.
"Hello Deidara. I am L," he announced with a grin.
Especially in those little shoes.
"Hey." His voice was deep, completely countering his pretty face. L. Just L? He wasn't too sure what to do, so he remained standing by the doorway.
He motioned to a seat across from him.
"Sit, please. I have many questions I would like to ask."
"Sure un." Deidara walked to the chair, his footsteps absolutely silent. He glanced at the chair before slowly taking a seat.
He studied the younger male for a moment. Graceful, light on his feet. He must have been highly skilled as Kakashi had stated, though L didn't know the extent of it.
"I would like to start with this 'kidnapping' you had mentioned. If you could, please tell me more about that."
"Ah." Deidara wasn't too surprised he would warm up with that before jumping right into the actual murder. "When I was younger... maybe sixteen or so un... three members of the Akatsuki came to my house: Uchiha Itachi, Hozhigaki Kisame, and Sasori-danna yeah."
He merely blinked at the blond. So, Itachi had been one of the ones the take place in this kidnapping. One other, this Kisame, was also on the island. He made a note of the man possibly being a second target.
"You had told me that the situation was complicated. With you saying there, I believe there is more to it then that. Please, continue."
Deidara nodded. "They were ordered by out leader, Pein-sama, to recruit me un. They said my... unique skills.... were needed yeah."
L tilted his head to the side with a faint hint of disappointment marring his features. It would seem he was going to have to work for this.
"Though you did not want to go? How were they able to force you?"
"I did what I did for art un." Deidara shook his head. "Because that was what I wanted. That's why I left my home village. My art was ridiculed, but it was powerful and beautiful yeah! And sure. The akatsuki was brilliant enough to realize it, however, it didn't change the fact I didn't want to be told what to do under some leader un. As for how they were able to force me..." Deidara's one eyes looked to the side. "...Itachi told me that if I was able to defeat him, I would be free to go. I assued at the time he was the strongest of the three, and I was correct yeah."
"Your...art?"
He wasn't to sure what that had meant, though perhaps it has something to do with the little bird at his window earlier.
"So I would take it that it was he who defeated you, seeing how you are now a member?"
"Yes... my art. And... yeah un." Deidara's expression darkened. "...He defeated me with the Sharingan."
"Sharingan? Could you explain?"
He was curious. Not being from the same world made it a little harder for L to understand. Though fascinated, he would press for the answers if not just for the information, but partially for his own curiosity.
"Is that why you decided to kill him?"
"In our world..." Deidara shrugged. "There are bloodline ninja traits that you can inherit. The Uchiha Clan's trait is the Sharingan eye. All of them have it, unless they were married into the family, of course un. It has the ability to copy and learn any move, whether a ninjutsu, taijutsu, or genjutsu move. I guess if... if showed Itachi a dance or something yeah, he could mimic it perfectly."
This man was defeated by someone's eyes? Perhaps, that being the case, he really was in over his head.
"You did not answer my last question."
"Ah. Well..." Deidara frowned, looking away. "...One of the powers of the Sharingan... is that it is able to make people see illusions. All you have to do is look in his eyes, and you can be trapped in his illusion. I fought him in it, I thought I beat him, but... it was all an illusion, and he stopped me before I... killed myself un." His hands started to clench.
"...The artistry... the pure power and... how defenseless I was yeah... it was... he was mocking me... those stupid red eyes! It was a true work of art more powerful, more beau..." He growled slightly. "...He made me give up the life I was enjoying to joing their stupid... organization yeah."
"He stopped you from taking your life, yet you took his?"
"His orders were to bring me back yeah? I'd be pretty worthless if dead."
L fell silent for a moment, piecing it together the best he could. Had he a greater understanding of the way their world worked it would be easier. For now he would just have to go off of what he had taken off the network, and what Deidara was telling him right now.
"Not to repeat what you just said, but I would like to make sure I am correct.
The three of these Akatsuki members, the victim included, were under orders to track you down and bring you back so that they may use your abilities.
You, not wanting to go, protested and the victim, Itachi challenged you under the agreement that you would be allowed to go free if you defeated him.
Instead you were defeated, and taken back to this organization as one of their members.
I may be incorrect, but it sounds that you killed the man out of loathing, or jealousy that he had been stronger then you."
The blond nodded, continued nodding, until he reached the last sentence. It wqs then Deidara's lips pursed together.
"I hate all Uchiha. I hate the Sharingan. And of all of the Uchiha, yes, I hate Itachi, as if was because of him that I was forced to leave my current lifestyle to abide by those of the AKatsuki." He crossed his arms, leaning back into the seat.
"Me blowing his fucking head off yeah, was his most shining moment. Because art is all about existing, about thriving until you're most explosive moment comes! And for Itachi un, it was me making his brains spray everywhere."
Deidara slowly paused.
"...But its over now yeah. That's it, I guess."
"So it was out of hatred you killed him. I see."
Something was slightly off though. In all his time as a detective when a person killed out of hate, weren't they usually...happy? Even in the video there was no sign of the emotion.
He looked up again, watching the blond, calculating and nearly blank.
Deidara glanced over at him. He raised his eyebrow slightly at L, who was staring at him. However, since the man stopped questioning, he didn't bother to say anything.
"In my past experiences I have seen many people killed out of hate, amongst other things. When the person whom committed the murder was questioned about it, they were generally happy. Yet with you, you do not show this. Might I ask why?"
Deidara's brows furrowed slightly. "...I'm just lost, is all."
"Lost?" he echoed.
"Yeah un. I mean... that's it. I did it. I was able to watch the Sharingan dissenigrate and explode right in front of my eyes un. They said the Sharingan is able to see everything. But he didn't see that one coming. ...God I'm brilliant." He put his finger tips to his mouth.
"...But now there's nothing left."
"Perhaps. Seduction is used frequently as a means of distraction. It is always easiest to bring a person down in their moment of weakness." He paused for a moment. "So you will not attack him again, even though he's come back?"
"No. I won't." Deidara shook his head. "....There's no need to. I did what I needed to, what I told myself I would." And damn, maybe it felt good, but only for a split second. In fact, he felt awesome when he had slipped the clay into Itachi's mouth.
....What if he had stopped there...?
There was something else, he could almost sense it, but he would put it aside for now.
"And his brother?"
"I've fought him before already un, in my world. His Sharingan is weaker than Itachi's..." Was, now, not that he knew this. And even if he did know, it didn't matter to him. "I have no need to combat him again yeah."
"Good."
He continued to look at the man for a moment.
"One last question; how did you do it?"
Deidara smiled, faintly. "With my special ability. Do you remember that bird you saw?"
"Yes," he said with a nod.
"It's made out of clay un. A special clay that I created. I then take it into my body..." He held up his hand, which currently just looked like it had a slit in it. "And it infuses with my chakra. I then mold it into any shape I want my chakra manipulation."
"You're able to do damage like that just with clay?"
He held one finger pressed against his bottom lip, his eyes wide. He was truly fascinated with these ninja's. They could hold lightning in their hands, breathe fire, bring someone down with a mere glance, and kill a person with clay.
"I was a terrorist bomber for hire in my world un," Deidara stated. "I have been hired to destroy entire cities before yeah." And he had done it with pride. "And yeah, just my clay. It's my work of art. Would you like a demonstration un? A non-lethal one, of course."
"Yes, as long as it does not cause any damage."
"I'm in utmost control." Something small, then... very small. He reached into his pouch, grasping just a pinch of clay. He then opened his palm out so L could see it.
And then the slit opened in his hand. A mouth, complete with teeth and a tongue opened up, lapping up the small amount of clay, chewing on it. Deidara closed his palm, the mouth spitting it out as he worked his fingers, until the tiniest little butterfly, no bigger than the end of a tack, appeared. It fluttered on Deidara's finger, and the blond kept his hand still so that L could look at it.
He blinked a few times, eyes going wider then before, his head tilted to the side, his thumb pressed against his lips. The blond had a mouth...in the palm of his hand. Never had he seen anything like that before, and he wondered how it was even possible.
Silently he nodded, looking at the delicate little butterfly. It was still hard to believe something that moved so naturally was made of clay.
"I believe art come and goes... but must have it's moment of glory." He brought his hands to his lips, blowing it delicately. The butterfly flitted off, into the air...
And exploded. It blew up with a loud boom, smoke flying, but no debris. The explosion used every bit of clay, even the dust. For such a minute amount, the explosion was very powerful.
"My pride and joy un..." Deidara said faintly, staring up at it.
Startled, L jumped at the explosion, although transfixed on the spot the little clay figure detonated.
"That is an amazing talent. Dangerous, but amazing none the less."
"Thank you." Deidara leaned back, waiting for him to continue. The mouth on his hand grinned, slowly sliding back into place, and closing shut.
"I have gotten the information I need. You are free to go, though I will warn you first.
I not only asked my roommate to leave, but also for protection. He has put up two squads close by. Whether or not the were alerted by the explosion or not I do not know.
Now you had said you planned on turning yourself in. as long as you do so they should not be hostile. If they are, I will find out and make sure something is done about it. One willing to give themselves up is a rare thing, and the person should not be treated rudely when willing to cooperate."
Deidara merely nodded. "I'll keep that in mind un. Should I just go out the front door then?" He was a little worried, he had to admit. Two squads... most likely Kakashi, the blond kid, and that she-man pinked hair bitch. And the other... possibly the Hyuuga-whore, maybe even Sasuk... so, doubtful. The Yondaime? And then the Hyuuga girl, too. She was on the island.
"What happened to the Uchiha un?"
L nodded.
"The door is fine."
He paused for a moment. He had hacked the chat yesterday that the ninja's held, and knew where they took Itachi. He didn't really want to tell him, but to show a little trust with one so willing would not hurt.
"He is currently one floor below us being treated."
Deidara's eyes slowly lowered to the ground. There was a slight whiring noise, and then it stopped.
"...Ah. I see un..." Deidara wondered what needed to be treated. he had thought... well. Whatever he had thought was wrong. "...Do you know what's going to happen? Obviously the Copy Cat's squad will take me into custody... but is my fate in their hands, or some other authority yeah? I'd like to know... if only to know what to expect un."
"I am not fully sure. In fact they were not one hundred percent on what they were going to do either. There was a mention though, of Itachi maybe wanting to take care of it himself."
Deidara's face did nothing, but a lot at the same time. It merely stayed with the same expression, but it hardened. Significantly.
"...I see." There was a sligh shake to his voice.
"I wouldn't worry. They said they would try to dissuade him from doing such."
He offered a small, child-like smile.
"It was a pleasure meeting you Deidara, I hope all goes as well as can be expected."
"Sure un. I guess we'll see." They wouldn't even know Itachi was doing anything until it was too fucking late, and he was screaming for mercy. Nice try, though. He stood, looking over L and his child-like smile.
"...You know un," Deidara said as he headed to the front door. "...You're actually pretty cute un."
L laughed. Not that it was funny, but it amused him.
"I have not heard that since I was a kid." Maybe it had been said since then, but he never really payed attention after a certain point.
"That's pretty disappointing to hear." Deidara grasped the doorknob.
"I'd bang you. Oh un... not with clay or anything. I mean with my cock, for the record yeah." He gave a little wave, the mouth of his other hand blowing L a raspberry before licking it's lips as he headed out the door to seal his fate.
Slightly taken back, L just stared blankly at the man as he exited.
