What: date tiems Dei and Itty watch the fireworks and Dei explains the mechanics behind them the damn little pyro
When: Monday Night, during the fireworks display
Where: Some small mountain area
Warnings: Dei cussing

Just before dusk fell, Itachi had left Saukra with her friends, returning back to his apartment to gather the food he had made earlier. Kushi dango and tempura sweet potatoes. He had left the food at home in his fridge in a bento box, neatly packed and ready to go.

He left his apartment immediately, heading don to the area where they were holding the fireworks, using his uchiwa to fan himself
.
Upon arrival, Itachi stuck the red and white paper fan in his obi, looking around for the blond bomber.

And there he was. Deidara was sitting on top of his giant clay bird, bending over so his elbows rested on his knees, and his face was held in his hands. He seemed to be zoned out, that or concentrating really hard. It was both. He was wondering why he was here, and thinking about why the hell he was here!

Deidara had already been out and watched the carnivals fireworks for a couple of nights now on his own. It wasn't anything special, really. He loved the colors, the fires, the loud noises... he merely watched them from the sky, until he found that from the mountain area you got the best view the next night.

He had been alone then... but because he wasn't he felt the need to at least look presentable, and not all mussed up in his usual Akatsuki cloak and such.

It was the only reason dammit!

So there Deidara sat. His hair style was the same, halfway-up and then down, ponytail a little bit more to the side than usual however. He was wearing a blue yukata, with very pale silver wisps that looked to be thin cloud embroidered on it, and a bright, sunshine yellow obi. He kicked his feet boredly, curling his toes in his sandals. A little bag resting on the bird's back.

Of course, the bird. It was hard to miss, and equally hard to miss the subtle 'clip-clop' of his geta as he approached.

"Konban wa, Deidara," he greeted the blond.

He stood there silently, holding the bento box in one hand, the other fanning himself with the uchiwa, blowing the loose locks of his hair back and forth.

Deidara looked at him as Itachi approached. The blond glanced at the bento, then over at the Uchiha who was fanning himself. He wouldn't need it--not for long... unless of course he became overexposed to Dei's pure completely sexy hot awesomeness.

"Yo un." Deidara looked Itachi over. "...You look... nice."

"Hai. As do you," he responded, motioning for the blond to come down from atop his bird.

He slipped the fan back into the red obi pulling the cloth from the bento box. He had used a larger cloth then normal, one that doubled as something to sit on while they ate.

After unfolding the cloth and spreading it out he rested the box in the middle, kneeling off to the side of it, once again pulling out his uchiwa fanning himself. It had been a rather warm day.

Deidara slowly took a seat as Itachi settled down, bringing the sack of drinks and glasses with him.

"I brought some sake and green tea un," Deidara spoke, opening the bag. He was laying his his side, propping his body up with his elbows.

He rested the fan in his lap, the red and white vivid against his black yukata.. He lifted the top off the box, setting it aside taking the first layer off the second, setting them next to each other.

"As requested, kushi dango and the tempura sweet potatoes. I have only made the dango before, so I am unsure of how I did with the tempura."

He really wasn't an adept cook, but it was enough to get by. Really, only the basics were needed.

"I won't be drinking any sake though. As I'm sure you saw, I do not hold my liquor well." Although, better then Sasuke, he added silently.

"I remember un." Deidara's eyes looked down to the seperate layers of the bento. He was hungry, but drinks first. He broke out the sake and green tea, pouring some tea of the Uchiha, and then tea for himself. No use getting buzzed before the fireworks even started.

"Here." Deidara set the cup in front of Itachi, setting down the tea. He got a bit more comfy, before looking over at the sky, just as the first firework went off, a large white one, signaling the start.

He took the cup with a quietly muttered thanks, sipping slowly at the liquid. His eyes drifted upward, onyx orbs taking it the colorful light against the velvety dark blue sky.

"So, please explain to me how ass this works. That is the reason I am here."

There was a slight appearance of a smile on his lips, quickly taking it leave as Itachi looked over at the blond. His eyes glanced over him, the onyx irises reflecting the colors in the sky as he waited for Deidara to begin his explanation.

Deidara's own blue ones were concentrated on the fireworks as they began to color in the sky.

"There are different classes of explosive pyrotechnics," Deidara began, his eyes focused on them and not the man beside him. "Fireworks have a low classification, used primarily for aesthetic and entertainment purposes.

"They were invented in ancient China during the 12th century," he continued, eyes pulling away for a moment to snag a stick of dango. "They came as almost a natural effect form their uses of gunpowder for canons, and they used them to scare away spirits. This leads them to be the largest manufacturer and exporter of fireworks." He took a bite, chewing. "Its important to know the history behind in un, before the technics are explained."

He listened, only breaking his focus momentarily as he took sips off his tea, otherwise keeping his attention rapt.

"I understand. Little is understood without knowing it's beginning. Please continue."

"Just makin' sure you don't get bored un." he continued to explain how the colors were generated by pyrotechnic stars, which produced intense light when they were lit. They contained fiver different components.

Deidara's eyes were still focused on the display. The different colors were lighting up his face.

"There's fuel, whihc allows the star to burn un. AN oxidizer, which produces oxygen, usually, to support combustion un. The color producing chemicals, whihc vary from color to color, a biinder to hold the pellet together, and a chlorine donor to strengthen the color un."

The youth paused.

"What's your favorite color un?"

He blinked a few times, looking from the sky back to Deidara.

"Color? I really haven't thought about it, but I am quite fond of red."

"The color red is usually composed of Strontum carbonate and lithium carbonate," Deidara stated, taking a sip of his tea. When he finished, he pulled out the sake, spouring him a small glass.

"Want some un?" He asked Itachi.

He nodded. He vaguely remembered what the chemicals were, and later he would look them up again to refresh his memory.

Watching the blond, Itachi's eyes wandered over the bottle of sake. It was a good brand, and it had been a while since he'd had good sake.

"No, I think I'll pass for now."

"You sure? It's good... and if you have one glass it's not gonna fuck you up un." Since Itachi's glass was empty, Deidara pout him some anyway. Of course, in order to do that he had to shift a little more from his side and onto his stomach, and his leg slipped out from under the yukata, exposing most of his thigh.

"Cheers yeah?" Deidara shot some back.

He went to decline once again, yet when he looked down the blond was already filling his glass. He turned to look at blond, his eyes wandering over the exposed thigh staring blankly for a moment before turning his head a little to quickly, his hair flaring out from the movement.

"Kanpai," he responded, sipping at the alcohol.

"Kanpaaaaiii!" Deidara cheered after him, lifting the glass.

Before them, the fireworks exploded. Deidara remained in his same position, looking back and sipping quietly.

"There are also different types of explosions. The spider. Roman candle. Ring. Willow. Peony is the most common shell type."

He nodded, keeping his eyes focused on the sky, his ears focused on the the blonds words. Still when he went to take a sip of sake his eyes darted over Deidara, then back to the sky.

He stopped talking, feeling there was not much else to say, unless he started getting super specific. Deidara finished off his sake, eating a bit of the sweet potato tempura.

"You know, Tobi always used to fucking bug me to get shit like this un..." Deidara stated, taking anothet bite. "...Then I got so used to him wanting it, I started craving it too! That idiot..."

He shifted, moving so his legs were stretched out in front of him, leaning back on one hand. He let his now empty glass rest beside him, reaching out for one of the dango skewers.

"It happens, when partners spend too much time together. Though sometimes the opposite happens and you begin to loath the food that is so frequently brought before you. I am not so fond of many fish anymore, thanks a great deal to Kisame."

"Ha ha! Figures Jaws would constantly eat that stuff un." Itachi didn't like fish, huh...?

Deidara poured himself another glass. "Whatever un. Sometimes I'm glad it's fuckin' quiet un. Other times I kind of wonder was it always this quiet? Hmm... Sasori-danna... he wasn't talkative. Then I was the one always makin' the racket un." He took a sip, then a bite of the sweet potato.

"This is pretty good un..."

If Deidara kept drinking, he'd eventually get... well.

"Yes, it is rather expected with him."

Silently he turned his face back to the sky, onyx eyes darting to and fro with each new burst of color, each time illuminating his face and eyes a different hue.

"The sake, or the food?"

"Huh? Oh..." Deidara looked down at his hands, both either holding a tempura sweet potato or his drink. "...Both I guess un, but I was talking more about the sweet potato un." He took another bite, as if to prove his point. he looked over at Itachi while he did so, and has he swallowed and pulled it away form his mouth, the sky burst into flaming red, as if splattering the blond haired teenager with blood.

"Yes, well it was a first time for me making them."

Quietly he nibbled at the dango, glancing back and forth with each burst of light, occasionally letting his eyes wander back over to Deidara. It was amazing how each time the sky would light up the blond seemed to absorb each color. It was only to late that he had noticed that he had been staring too long.

Deidara suddenly gasped. It was small and tiny, but noticeable.

"Here it comes yeah!" The blond looked up into the sky as several fireworks started to explode at once. "The grand finale...!"

Deidara was so into it, he got up from his laying position. He stood to his feet, looking up at the sky with a wide-eyed look on his face.

Slowly Itachi rose to his feet, standing behind Deidara, looking up at the sky. It was...

"...breathtaking."

"Yeah un..."

Deidara watched as they went off, color by color, until finally it all ended. He felt a little empty, a little sad... but he supposed that was that. He finally turned back to Itachi. The sky was dark, but the moon lit up his featuers just a bit.

"Guess that's it un. Nice run."

They were close. Well, closer then they had ever been before. He was even close enough to smell the sake on the blonds breath.

"Dei, I....Thanks," he said, slipping his hand into the fold of his yukata. From the folds he pulled a small box of assorted fireworks. There were sparklers, firecrackers, and those little popper things. "Here. I got this as a thank you for explaining the show to me."

"What's...?" And then Dei's eyes seemed to shove past the fireworkd, the poppers, and right to the good shit.

The sparklers.

He had to keep himself from gaping. He had to keep himself from those faint memories as a kid with running around with them at night, laughing happily as he watched the multiple displays of light. He couldn;t...

He felt awkward, suddenly. He frowned, slowly holding out the box to Itachi.

"...I... don't want this un. Not from you."

"Deidara." He spoke firmly, only to grab his attention. "It is merely a token of gratitude, nothing more."

He looked down at the box, pressing it back into the blonds hands. The corner of his lips turned up, his fingers barely brushing against the other, causing him to pull his hand back.

"Accepting these changes nothing. You are still free to loath me as you always have."

He turned around, leaving the box in Deidara's hands. kneeling down to ready his stuff to return to his apartment.

Deidara watched as Itachi readied his things. He scowled when Itachi had packed up and was headed off.

"AND I DO UN!" He shouted, still holding the box of firecrackers.

"MORE THAN ANYTHING!"
