Kairi was still peeved at the fact she had no home to call her own on the island. One minute she was living in an apartment and had stayed with Namine to...get over a few things and then when she came back she didn't live there anymore. Did she forget to pay rent or something? And then there was the drama of finding a place to stay and while she was serious about camping out doors people still offered their ...homes to her. Sure, she could've stayed with Namine--but she had just come back from there and didn't want to put her out again--or with Riku--though considering...what happened before she wasn't comfortable with the idea and thought giving him space was what the doctor ordered--but she didn't.

She was staying with Zexion.

Maybe she was crazy or maybe she secretly wanted to get kidnapped again? Either way she was walking up to his home with a bag in her hands. Since she had no idea where her other clothes were she had to go out and buy the necessities like a toothbrush, hair brush, toothpaste, pajamas and clothes for the next day. Her main reason behind staying with him was because he had a spare room which meant she wasn't putting anybody out. And I didn't tell Riku because I didn't want him to go flying off the handle.. The thought crossed her mind as she nervously stepped up to Zexion's door and rapped her knuckles against the wood.

"Zexion? It's Kairi...I'm here.."

Long before she knocked on his door, Zexion was aware of Kairi's presence. After all, the scent of one with so pure a heart was hardly easy to mistake. From the moment of his arrival on the island, he had been assaulted with the scent of darkness of varying strengths, but having the Princess within his vicinity was a welcome relief. It allowed him some room to breathe.

Opening the door, he donned an expression that fell somewhere between a small, pleasant smile and his customary predatory smirk. There was no sense in scaring her away, but neither did he intend to let her feel completely at ease.

"Welcome, Princess. I trust you had no difficulty locating this building?"

Kairi began to shift her weight from one foot to another as she waited for Zexion to open the door. She was beginning to think he wasn't home when she saw his face. The nervousness she felt increased two fold but she tried to remain calm, giving the other a small smile. Though he doesn't need to call me that..

"No it was pretty easy...but um...could you not call me Princess? I don't really consider myself to be one..." she explained, waiting until he side stepped to let her in.

"And...thanks for having me over Zexion..." she said sheepishly, bowing her head a little.

"My apologies, Kairi." The small smirk did not leave his face, though he returned her gesture with an inclination of his head. Moving aside, he opened the door wide enough for her to enter, revealing the sparsely furnished living room and the entryway to the kitchen beyond. The white walls and stark decor had reminded him briefly of Castle Oblivion before he had dismissed the unwelcome memory.

"As I said before, your gratitude is unnecessary, but you are welcome in this house."

He noted that the bag she was carrying was far too small to contain all of her possessions, and concluded that being without a home in place meant also being without one's personal belongings.

"May I take your affects?"

Kairi walked into the home glad that Zexion was using her name instead of her title. To this day she still found it a bit weird to have someone call her a princess or regard her as such. She didn't see herself as one. She was a normal girl who had two--maybe one from the way things were going--who grew on the beach...and if you ignore all the Heartless stuff she was just ordinary.

"My gratitude is necessary--ah, nevermind.." she replied, not wanting to engage in such a topic with him. She learned that lesson over the 1336pods. When he mentioned her bag she tightened her hold on it. She shook her head causing locks of auburn to swish back and forth.

"No, its okay. if you could point me out to the spare room that would be great I want to change into my pajamas now if that's alright." she didn't know if he had anything planned that would require to dress casually or...in her pajamas. Zexion didn't strike her as someone who had plans for the night--he seemed more of the 'stay at home, read a book, watch tv' type of person.

Zexion carefully shut the door once Kairi was inside. Her refusal to hand over her bag was not surprising given her determined and independent nature, not to mention her lack of familiarity with him, but he was currently playing the host which demanded a certain level of etiquette. He did arch an eyebrow at her mention of sleep attire.

"You shall find both bedrooms on the second floor. The one on the left is unoccupied and at your disposal. In addition, there are two bathrooms, one on this level and one between the bedrooms. You may have full access to whichever you prefer."

He regarded her silently for a moment. This was perhaps less awkward than he had expected, and that in itself gave him pause for consideration. Despite her acceptance of his invitation, Kairi had displayed a level of caution indicating she still anticipated some ulterior motive on his part. Unfortunately, at the moment, there was nothing of that nature that Zexion could think of that would serve any practical purpose.

"Am I to assume that your lack of residence has had an impact on your diet as well?"

Kairi stared at Zexion for a moment, as though he had grown a second head out of his neck. He...certainly had the place well mapped out. Or a very good memory...or both.. She mentally mused, trying to recall which bedroom was vacant and the nearest bathroom to it. She found herself nodding to him.

"Alright...I'll be right back then.." she replied, being careful to maneuver past him without accidentally brushing up against him. The auburn haired girl was making her way to the bedroom when he asked in a rather unique way--he speaks so formally...huh, maybe he was a noble or something...--if she was hungry. She was slightly embarrassed to say she was.

"A little, b-but I can cook if you want!" she called over her shoulder, never minding the fact her cooking skills were really limited. Well...unless he had a cook book on him. Kairi made her way up to the room, closing the door to change out of her outfit. Once done she placed her things on the dresser drawer before coming out in a baby blue tank top with starry blue pajama bottoms.

"Or is there anything I can do? I don't want to be a bother or anything..." she hoped there was at least one thing she could do. She didn't like feeling useless.

He waited respectfully on the first floor while she sought out her bedroom and changed clothes. He himself had yet to obtain other clothing from this world. While his current attire was more than functional, it had occurred to him that it might do better to attempt a less conspicuous look if he was going to be stuck here. That, and the weather so far was significantly warmer than he had grown accustomed to.

When Kairi reemerged, he raised another eyebrow. What she was wearing was a great deal less feminine than her normal attire. Uncertain what he had actually expected, Zexion returned to the topic of food. The pantry had been quite empty when he arrived two days ago, but it was fully stocked now. Following IX's advice for obtaining monies, Zexion had reluctantly ventured into the forest. Though he found physical violence highly distasteful, he was more than capable of handling the monsters that had dared to attack him.

"I have already prepared a meal. Since I anticipated your arrival, there is enough for two people, should you desire to partake of it. If not, there are ample ingredients for a number of other dishes."

Kairi didn't really care if her sleepwear was feminine or not. As long as it was cheap, comfy and looked nice then that was good enough for her. Normally she would've chosen shorts over long pants but considering she was in the company of Zexion for the night...she didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable. And she would feel awkward walking around him in short shorts. Sure, he didn't seem like the type of guy to...get excited when a female walked by him in such clothing but she didn't want to take the chance.

"Eh?" she blinked a few times, surprised that he actually cooked food for them. Well..I don't him well enough to know if he can cook or not.. The thought passed through her mind as a sheepish smile came over her face.

"Thanks and I will partake of it.." it felt a little weird using his language but it worked. "One dish will be enough, I don't eat much...though if you want me to cook something for you, I'd be more than happy to." she should've bit her tongue there knowing, again how limited her cooking skills were. Then a thought hit the girl...

Did...Zexion have anything to change into? Sure, the cloak was okay but...he couldn't very well sleep in that! Kairi wasn't sure what the material of the cloak was made out of but she was certain it probably wasn't great to sleep in.

"I brought along another set of pajamas if you want to borrow them. It's nothing sparkly or anything. Just a pair of pants and a shirt.." ...I think I should stalkerish right there...

Zexion smirked as he noted her surprise and the slight hesitation before she agreed. That reaction was not uncommon when people learned of his culinary skills, but he trusted the meal would dispel any further suspicions. It was a simple dish comprised of pasta and vegetables, but it would suffice.

"There is no need for you to cook. And I assure you the food is not poisoned."

He was about to lead the way into the kitchen when Kairi's question caught him completely off guard. She was offering...

"...Excuse me?"

Kairi wasn't thinking the food was poisoned. Far from it, she thought he couldn't cook at all. So..maybe she did think there could be something wrong with the food. Like he added too much sugar or salt, but poison was far from her mind. She merely nodded her head and chuckled weakly.

"I was just offering..but glad to know..." she replied until the tables were turned and she caught him off guard.

"I...was offering you my pajamas?" she said uncertain if he heard her or not as she followed him into the kitchen. She stopped once she reached the counter in favor of going through the cupboards to look for plates and utensils to set the table.

"If you don't want to that's fine. If you already have pajamas of your own that is...I mean, mine are just a plain shirt and pants, no special sayings or bows or anything.." she babbled, feeling a bit foolish for rambling on.

As Kairi set about retrieving plates and such, Zexion took only a moment to regain his composure. He had been aware from the beginning that accommodating a Princess of Heart would entail dealing with alien notions of generosity, but Kairi continued to surprise him. She would not gain the upper hand, however.

"...While the offer is quite generous, I believe my own clothing will be sufficient." His smirk widened marginally. "Unless perhaps you wish to see me in something else?"

Kairi began to set the table, putting the plates and utensils in their proper places before going back into the kitchen to retrieve glasses. She stopped in her tracks though at Zexion's reply. A small pout made its way to her face. She was used to lending out her clothes considering the island..had a tendency of taking them.

"Alright..." she replied until the new words flew out his mouth. She turned around, pausing mid way of reaching to grab some glasses to stare at him.

"...Why would I..." her sentence trailed on until her brain finally caught up with her. A blush stained her cheeks as she quickly turned away to fetch two glasses.

"I were merely suggesting it because I don't know if that cloak is comfortable to sleep wit--in. Sleep in."

The crimson on Kairi's face was triumph enough for Zexion. He moved smoothly around the girl to place the food on the plates she had arranged before returning to the stove to tend a kettle he had set to boil. Truly, there was little need for him to say anything further.

"I see. I thank you for your concern, but I have no intention of sleeping in it. As you would imagine, it is quite cumbersome."

He retrieved the tea from a cupboard above the stove. He had gone to great pains to find some of a suitable quality on this island, and it had not been inexpensive.
