Cloud frowned as he moved through the woods, sword in one hand. The monsters in the woods had thankfully reverted back to the way they were before the Heartless and Nobodies started attacking, and thus a lot easier for him to deal with. Normally he would have stuck close to the town for a while after an event like that, but Vincent was missing.

Cissnei had said Vincent was most likely gone from the island, but while he had a feeling what she said was most likely correct, he still wanted to check for himself.

Hearing the loud growl of a monster that Cloud now recognized as the sign of something being attacked, he hurried his steps towards the source of that noise, fingering his lightning materia.

The closer Cloud to the source of the monster growl he heard earlier, the more apparent and louder the sound of a battle going on Cloud's enhanced hearing could pick up.

Should he help or should he just watch? The fighter doesn't seem to be doing TOO badly against the monster, though the other didn't seem to be winning either. Stepping behind one of the larger trees, he peeked out carefully at the battle site.

At that moment, a bright light flashed in front of him from the box in Mukuro's hands, and Cloud's free hand automatically went up to shield his eyes from the sudden glare. With enhanced hearing also came enhanced sight, and his eyes have always been extra sensitive to sudden bright lights ever since the first drops of mako were injected into his body.

Not at all, bb. I'm just tl;dr. orz;; percorsi May 25 2009, 16:56:41 UTC
And in what seemed like an instant, the monster was no more.

Mismatched eyes stared at the spot where the creature had been previously standing as he put away his box weapon. It was obvious that the power of the box was a lot more formidable than Mukuro had imagined if the monster had been taken down so quickly. But that didn't mean he could use it so leisurely. The dying will flame was a part of his life force and that was something he didn't want to expend needlessly.

However, the little experiment was a success, albeit a small one. It was disappointing that it hadn't lasted as long as he would have liked, but that was something he couldn't change. Plus, he was getting annoyed at the thing anyway.

But now he had other things to deal with, namely the bloody wounds on his person.

Cloud rubbed his eyes blearily as the spots faded from his vision after several seconds. Well that was an interesting attack. The monster was gone. Still, he thought that kind of attack was overkill as the bounty seemed to have disappeared with the monster.

Deliberately rustling a nearby bush nearby as a warning, he stepped out from behind the tree he had been standing behind.

"That was interesting...I don't think I've ever seen an attack like that one." He commented as he studied Mukuro's bloody form. "Do you need any help with your wounds?"

"Unless you're from my world, I doubt you'd be very familiar with it," Mukuro stated, slowly dropping his left arm that held his trident.

He had heard the rustle of the bushes but wasn't entirely fooled by the false sudden appearance. It was an old trick that was used time and time again, but he supposed it worked it's purpose. The illusionist would have attacked the blond if he'd known it was a monster instead of a person. Still, he wasn't acquainted with his person, so he still had to be careful. Especially with the kind of weapon the other was wielding.

Mismatched eyes look warily at the blond. "Do you have a first aid kit?" Mukuro would rather dress his wounds himself than trust a stranger to do it for him.

XD;;; Trust me, it's better than the opposite. not_soldier May 26 2009, 04:28:48 UTC
Cloud shrugged. Ever since arriving on this island, he'd seen all sorts of attacks that he'd never seen before, from giant hammers to something that looked like playing cards. He viewed it as a learning experience of sorts.

Relaxing his grip on his sword, Cloud lowered it just a bit and relaxed his stance. "I don't have a first aid kit with me, but I do have my cure materia. I can heal some of your injuries if you let me." He didn't carry a first aid kit with him generally, choosing to rely on his cure and heal materias out in the field if he was alone so he didn't have to carry so many things with him.

Mukuro narrowed his eyes, analyzing the blond. Would the other really help a total stranger with no restraint? Just like that? Plus he was a bit dubious about the other's... what was it? Cure materia?

"What's this materia that you mentioned?"

This was the illusionist's chance to gauge other people's powers here and just up to par they were to his own. Knowing the strengths and weaknesses of people would be a good thing after all. Never know what could possibly happen, especially after that last incident with the Heartless.

no fail. not_soldier May 26 2009, 13:12:34 UTC
Even if Mukuro refused his offer of help, Cloud wouldn't think much of it. After all, Mukuro didn't look like he was on the verge of collapsing from his wounds, deep as they look. And he himself prefer to rely on himself then others if he was hurt if only to spare his friends the trouble of worrying after him.

Hearing Mukuro's question, Cloud lifted his arm where his bracer rested, and tapped the green orb clipped there. "This is materia. I use this to heal wounds."

There was no doubt that Mukuro's curiosity was piqued. Was this materia's ability something like the Sun's attribute in healing wounds? Or was it something different entirely but still have the same results? He wanted to know. And if the blond was bluffing and this 'cure materia' actually killed him, well, he'd just come back to life on the island, wouldn't he?

In that view point, there wasn't much to lose and a good amount to gain.

"Alright then. I'm interested in seeing how this materia works," he said, allowing the other to heal him, if that was what the materia did.

Cloud made a small indescrible noise of acknowledgement and activated his cure materia. It started glowing, getting brighter brighter as Cloud poured more MP into it, then released the cure spell on Mukuro. It was only a second level cure spell, but Cloud judged it was good enough to heal most of the injuries on the other man.

"Done." Cloud said as the glow died down from the cure materia.

Mismatched eyes blinked when the process seemed to have finished in a blink of the eye. It was certainly a lot faster than the Sun's ability and much more convenient as well. If they had something like this in their world, it certainly would make the fighting a little easier.

But that was neither here nor there.

"Well, that certainly is interesting, that materia," Mukuro commented, checking over his wounds and finding that most of them were healed. A little sore, but that wasn't something he couldn't handle. "I appreciate the help."

He glanced over to the blond and finally properly greeted the man. "Rokudo Mukuro, a pleasure to meet you. And you are?"

Cloud shrugged at Mukuro's comment. He'd gotten so used to using materia he didn't think much of it any more. "They're useful enough." He replied and added as an afterthough, "You're welcome."

Cloud slipped his sword back into the sheath on his back, after taking another look around the clearing to make sure there wasn't any monster that was going to ambush them.

"Cloud Strife." He answered quietly in response to Mukuro's introduction.

Not the talkative type, is he?

Mukuro raised an eyebrow in amusement at the blond's rather closed-off behavior. In his experience, it was these types that were usually the most fun in trying to pick apart and find out the inner workings of the mind. Not to mention tease with just the right amount of words and implications. Unfortunately for the illusionist though, he didn't want to run off a potential source of information so soon after their meeting.

But a simple Q&A wouldn't hurt, now would it?

"While I do appreciate the medical help, I am wondering what you're doing here in the woods," he said curiously, allowing his trident to disappear for the moment.

Cloud didn't see Mukuro's amusement, having been too busy giving the materia clipped on his bracer a quick check to see that nothing's come loose. And even if Cloud did see that flash of emotion, he wouldn't think much of it. It simply wasn't his business and Cloud has long since ceased to care what people outside of his circle of friends thought of him. He wasn't an over-emotional teenager any more.

He raised an eyebrow at the way the trident just disappeared into thin air, but didn't say anything, choosing instead to answer Mukuro's question.

"Nothing much really. Just some bounty hunting."

"Hm~ Is that right."

Mismatched eyes just stared at the blond, plain amusement in sight. Mukuro briefly wondered if the other's nonchalance was natural or he honed himself to be that way. Too bad for Cloud, that only made the illusionist even more curious about the other, but whether the blond could satisfy that curiosity was left to be determined.

Mukuro chuckled lightly. "Well then, we're not that different, it seems."
