Get a little more acquainted

Feb 17, 2009 22:42

Who: Repliku and Roxas
When: Sometime after Repliku's encounter with Anti-Sora in the woods.
Where: The grocery store; maybe the apartment also.
What: They both ate dark chocolates, but Rep's isn't gonna kick in until the next day or so :O
Warnings: Shounen-ai, possibly. Boys awkwardly getting to know each other. Warnings will be edited if needed :)

Repliku was glad to be inside and away from the constant rain of chocolate and its almost overpowering smell, even if it was just to get the basic necessities for life on this strange island. )

"We can get the basics..." Roxas thought for a moment. "But if they have sea salt ice cream..." And watermelon. Maybe some hotdogs. He tried not to think about how much he wanted to get a few things he missed from his days in Twilight Town. They needed to pick up essentials first, and then get some other things... but Sea Salt... No! He couldn't think about it. "But we don't have to get it." He added.

This was wierd. He never thought he would be out grocery shopping with Riku. (Or some form of Riku?) All the fighting in The World that Never Was quickly helped Roxas form and opinion on the boy, and it wasn't going to change much, no matter how much sea salt ice cream he got. Then again, if this wasn't Riku... then this would just be confusing. If this wasn't Riku, then what was it? It couldn't be his Nobody, or even a Heartles... He took a quick glance at the boy.

This whole place was weird.

"Sea-salt ice cream?" That sounded like such a weird choice of ice cream flavor. How could something that was salty go with something sweet like ice cream? But Roxas seemed like he wanted it...

His next thought was that Roxas had caught him in his attempted subtle examination, but he quickly covered up his self-consciousness with a grin.

"It sounds kinda interesting," he smiled at the blond. "I've never heard of sea-salt as a flavor before, but a little adventure is always fun, right?" Repliku had a feeling his meals would feel adventurous for a while anyway, since he didn't know how to cook much beyond some simple things. He really hoped Roxas wasn't a bad cook.

Roxas? A cook? One could describe Roxas' cooking like Sora's. Just try imagining Sora cook. Now picture the results? It wasn't going to be pretty. It looked like the two of them were going to live off instant ramen, sea salt ice cream and bad food. Roxas actually wasn't going to complain as long as the ice cream was there.

"It's not like normal ice cream..." Roxas smiled back. "It's... different, but it's really good." Hopefully Riku would like it? Because if not, it would still be a weekly grocery expense at the rate Roxas ate the stuff.

...They're gonna have a cooking disaster one of these days, aren't they? betterthanriku February 19 2009, 23:57:18 UTC
The idea of two teenage boys trying to cook as well as they could eat didn't sound like the best of ideas, frankly. Maybe they'd just be better off with things that were easy to make, like cereal, sandwiches, and pasta. Pasta was kind of like ramen, right? Just without the little bits of shrimp and chicken.

Repliku wondered if Roxas liked fish at all. It wasn't like he was an expert, but Repliku thought he could do the bread-and-fry thing with a fish if he tried. Maybe they'd have some of the fish that lived near Des- heh. Well, he could still try the fish thing if he wanted.

"Alright, so we put your ice cream on the list, too," he nodded. "I was also thinking we could get some cereal and sandwich stuff, maybe some canned soup, and some pasta and a couple of those salad-in-a-bag things." Ramen was good for every once in a while, but there were still some healthier things that were easier to make. The store was really big, though, and he didn't know where anything was. "You wanna just start at one end and work our way to the other?"

... Yes. Yes they will. existanceindark February 21 2009, 07:11:19 UTC
Unfortunately, pasta required a bit more skill to cook. One could overcook it, undercook it, and there were a many a variety of sauces to go with pasta! They would need to learn how to cook those, too!

Roxas nodded. The items on Riku's list sounded pretty decent, at least stuff he could live off for the next few days... and Ice cream. Ice Cream was always a must. "Yeah, I can try looking for a few of the things." And perhaps he'd pick up a few things along the way. Maybe some things like extra ice cream. They could never go wrong with picking up extra ice cream.

Even if pasta was more complicated - cooking, sauces, and all - Repliku would try at it until he got something that tasted great.

"I'll get the dry foods and deli stuff if you get the stuff in the frozen food and produce sections," he suggested. "And if you see anything else that looks good, we can try that, too. We could meet up at the cash register to pay and bring stuff back to the apartment together?" Repliku was still curious about Roxas, his keyblades, and his ice cream (and a lot of other things about the blond, too, if Repliku was going to be completely honest with himself), but hopefully they'd be able to have a real conversation once they were in the privacy of their apartment. "We can have some ice cream once we get back." he hoped Roxas would be willing to talk a bit.

Good Not-Riku! They could eat now, and all would be well. Hopefully.

"Sure." Roxas nodded. Having ice cream once they get back? Sounded good to him. He ran off in the opposite direction, grabbing the few items on the list along with a few extra things. Things like a watermelon, and maybe an extra pack of seasalt ice cream... But maybe that would just slip past Riku.

After getting the food they'd agreed on, Repliku made his way to the checkout counter. Sure, he'd slipped in a few extra things, like raisin bread for toasting and Mac n Cheese (in the shape of a cartoon sea-sponge, which was... weird), but since Roxas was getting the ice cream, Repliku didn't see why he couldn't add to the list as well.

Leaning against a magazine display, and generally annoying the cashier, he stood up straight once he saw Roxas turn a corner and approach the checkout.

"You ready to go?" he asked, not really paying much attention to what Roxas had in his basket.

Sorry about last night! I just kinda knocked out D: existanceindark February 24 2009, 17:07:49 UTC
"Yeah..." Roxas pulled his basket onto the counter. With a watermelon in it, it was rather heavy, but he could carry it back. He was the Nobody of the Keyblade Wielder, right? Sora could probably handle a watermelon, and so could he.

...or he could open a portal of darkness and use that to get back. He glanced over at Riku (or not..Riku). He was a lot shorter than he rememberd. Maybe his memory was just messed up again. He didn't like to rely on it too much these days.

"Hey Riku..." he said, waiting for the chashier to finish checking them out, "You can still use darkness, right?"

Yeah, that happened to me too, a bit :) betterthanriku February 24 2009, 18:42:49 UTC
Sora would probably try and convince someone else, usually someone like him, to carry the watermelon instead, but it wasn't like Sora couldn't do it.

Portals of darkness were certainly convenient, though. He'd used them in Castle Oblivion, and it had only taken a couple of times watching one of the Organization do it to figure it out himself. Repliku was used to being tall compared to most people his age, but Roxas seemed alright enough, other than the constant misnaming. If Repliku had known that Roxas, like himself, had to deal with tangled memories too, he might've wondered how the blond appeared to deal with them so much better than Repliku. After all, it wasn't like everyone was going around calling Roxas by someone else's name, was it?

"I told you," he repeated to Roxas, annoyed, "I'm not Riku." He didn't know how Roxas knew the real Riku, but this kind of thing was getting old fast. And if he knew Riku when he was afraid, then he was making all sorts of assumptions about Repliku that just weren't true. "But yeah, of course I ( ... )
