"I'll go first- Draw!" He announced. His opening hand of five was drawn with all the grace of his usual flourish, and then one more card was placed in his hand. Monster, spell, spell, monster, monster, spell. It didn't immediately register on his face, but when the strategy chained up in his mind, his eyes widened for just a brief second.

Then they lowered. He was not known for pulling his punches. But this? Was this something he wanted to be known for too? However the move was almost too perfect not to play. His deck was part of him, and if it gave him this opening hand, that meant it wanted to be played this way. He would never be able to convince himself otherwise.

So then, he raised his eyes and smirked. His usual game winning smirk, right on the opening hand.

"First I'll activate fusion! Combining my Black Magician and Buster Blader to form Super Magical Swordsman Black Paladin!" He activated the spell card, the two monsters rushing to the field and then melding together to bring the Swordsman forth. It could have been a grand opening move, a strong one.

"Then I'll activate this, the spell card Rush! By playing it my fusion monster can attack on the same turn it was created!" He gave a slight nod to his swordsman. The monster raised his staff, bringing it down with a harsh blow, sending a wave of magic to Atem's opponent, dropping his life points severely.

He smirked wider. "I'm not finished yet." He murmured, sliding another spell card into the slot. "Fusion cancel!" Once the card was activated the one monster became two again, and since he'd already breached the first-turn rules, he was ready to attack again. His eyes peered across the field intently at Jounouchi.

Then he looked up at his Magician. "Black Magician, direct attack!" He called with all the fervor of his best dueling days. He could hear his heart hammering away in his chest, the blood rushing in his veins. This move. This move was beautiful. He could only thank his deck so much for giving him a hand like this. He'd never dreamed of it before.

And quite literally as fast as the duel had begun, it was already over. It took him a few seconds to actually process what had just happened to him. He'd never even had a chance to do, well, anything.

"Heh," Jounouchi muttered as he slid the cards in his hand back into his deck. He lowered the arm that supported his Duel Disk and looked across the field. "Good game."

He was obviously down about suffering such a brutal loss so quickly, but he held nothing but respect for the other duelist.

He could barely hear anything at first, the hum of the generators and his own heart too loud to his ears. He didn't even realize how hard he was breathing until he broke himself out of it, looking around, looking at his monsters (one of which, of course the Black Magician, was staring intently at him).

His deck was withdrawn, the plates of the Duel Disk sliding back into their off mode. The deck was inserted into the box on his belt. He wouldn't apologize for what he'd just done. There was no reason to. A game was a game, no matter how fast it ended. He was pretty sure drawing a hand like that was a one-off thing, anyway.

So he smiled with a heavy nod of his head. "Ah." As usual, duel euphoria was taking place.
