Who: Sesshomaru and Kagome
What: Sesshomaru has vowed to protect Kagome.
When: Now until whenever
Where: Sesshomaru's apartment. (C-14)
Warnings: Don't think there's a need for a warning....
During their talk by the lake, Sesshomaru learned that Kagome--as well as most of the Island--had been the victim of horrible nightmares inflicted on them by Kia. As a result, the woman he had faced in battle had become skittish at the smallest sound. He had come to respect her, and to see her mind slowly being eroded like this angered him. It was the work of a coward, and he did not care for cowards. To die in battle was a much better fate as far as he was concerned. So, he promised to protect her while she faced her fear while her mind healed.
After he made that promise, she had broken down and started sobbing, wrapping her arms around him. He had originally planned to back away from that outburst, but he had stayed his hand. He had allowed her to continue, his hand upon her head in silent comfort. As time passed, he had protected her from the cold as part of his promise--or so he thought. He had come to realize he found her company pleasing, but that didn't mean he would forget his promise and leave her alone--or in the hands of others.
He had originally dismissed her fear as nothing more than the by-product of a normal nightmare. Until she revealed that it had been a realistic illusion she had been put through, forcing him to recall certain events in his life that resembled those in her hallucination. He realized then that her fear was deeper than he thought, and if hers was like that, then others' were, too. If he had left her alone, she would probably have to rely in someone he didn't know and couldn't trust. In keeping with his promise, he decided to bring her back to his apartment.
Which is where they were now--sitting next to each other on his bed.
