[closed] Another 'coming of age' episode involving card games

Nov 08, 2010 09:09

Who: Yuugi Mutou and Seto Kaiba
What: The day after Kaiba's raeg entry. Kaiba's pissed at Yuugi. Yuugi makes a perfect portable punching bag. How do they reach a resolution? By playing a children's card game!
When: 11am today.
Where: Carpal Tunnel Arcade, and then to a nearby park for EPIC DUELING.
Warnings: Kaiba anger, seizure inducing holograms, and believing in the heart of the cards in large amounts.

It was abnormally early to be thinking about trudging over there. But honestly, Yuugi couldn't sleep anymore. Not that he could in the first place; there was a lot on his mind. He hadn't seriously dueled since he was against Atem, and prior to returning to Salkia that was months ago. It felt weird knowing that he was seriously dueling again so soon, but... what else was there to do on this island, anyway?

Plus, Kaiba was pissed. And that bothered Yuugi quite a bit. He couldn't help but look up to the taller duelist, and despite the fact that Kaiba only more or less tolerated him because he was sharing head space with Atem, Yuugi actually viewed him as a friend. Sure, Yuugi viewed everyone as a friend, but he saw good in Kaiba where everyone else did not, and just wanted to be acknowledged as something to him beyond just 'Atem's annoying shadow'.

Or... perhaps it was because of Atem that he saw that.

Regardless, there was a difference between 'forced apathy' and 'complete shun', and Yuugi was determined to at least fix something. Armed with his Duel Disk and deck and his leather... everything (considering how normal it was for him to wear both of those things, he didn't think anything about it) he pushed open the door to the arcade and stepped inside. He forgot a jacket, but he was distracted thinking about his duel, so somehow this was alright.

It was quiet. Of course. He didn't expect it to be packed, especially considering how early it was. Still, it felt like it was eerily silent, and he glanced from machine to machine as he stepped further inside, the familiar feeling of guilt settling in on his chest.

Yuugi toyed with his ankh-symboled necklace to try to overcome all those oddly apprehensive feelings he felt as he stared at one of the game's demo screens. He never wanted to legitimately hurt Kaiba.. but how could he even fix this?
