The name attached to one of the new L337POD signatures had Kaiba making a double take. It was his custom to look over the NETWORK every few days or so, to see if Mokuba had been returned to him or something more insidious had happened. This didn't quite count as insidious....but it wasn't exactly what Kaiba wanted to see.

He hesitated, trying to decide whether it would be better for him to ignore the man and wait for him to blunder into awareness, or let him know right now what he was dealing with. Hm. Which would be the most disruptive?

The brunet sat at his desk, thinking it through, before moving to type out a message on the L337POD.

"Get off the leash, Mutt?" the text message said, coming up on the LP like a message on any cell phone would.

Jou continued to mull things over in his head, waiting for something to happen. Sooner or later, the blonde would have to get up and do something. He couldn't stay in this forest forever. He'd have to find shelter. Were there even other people here? Well... there must've been, since he'd found that strange device. Gah, all this thinking was making his head hurt.

beep.

Hm? At the noise, he lifted his head a little and curiously stared at the L337POD. Just like any old cellphone back home, he'd received a text message of some sort. It was strange, but he sat up and grabbed at the device regardless. The sender of the message referred to him as Mutt, which only meant that that bastard Kaiba was here of all people. Wonderful.

"You'd better start explaining what's going on here, jerk. You're the one with all the money."

The brunet smirked. The idiot was nothing but predictable, and god only knew how much he needed that right now. It was far more preferable to trying to get all of his own blood out of the office.

"Don't worry, I'm sure someone will hear your inevitable howling and find your body out in the woods," he typed quickly. "Can't have it stinking up the entire Island."

Jounouchi growled at the LP as Kaiba's reply returned. He didn't have time for Seto's superiority complex right now, but at least he'd been good for something. He mentioned they were on an Island, which Jou supposed might be helpful information.

"I guess the wolves haven't gotten you yet because they're afraid of being eaten first. I've got things to do, Kaiba. We'll play later."

Words could not express how badly he hated that man. He wasn't sure what Yuugi ever saw in him in the first place. Once a mook, always a mook.

Play. Oh, that was funny. The mediocrity thought he was good enough to play with him? The brunet sat back in his chair and shook his head. Even out of the people on this island, the idiot was still painfully stupid.

"Go ahead, keep stumbling through. Hit your head enough times, and you might find someone willing to throw an answer or two your way out of pity," he shot back.

Jou got to his feet and shoved the LP into his pocket. Not like sitting around all day in the woods was going to get him far, but the ache over his whole body had calmed just enough to make it easier for him to navigate.

After a minute, he realized he shouldn't be burning what little bridges he had in this new place, even if his bridge with Kaiba was basically non-existent.

"Yo, what's up with this place anyways? I sound like one'a Pegasus' stupid toons every time I try to say AOOOOOOOGAH. DAMN IT I can't even type it."

Kaiba raised an eyebrow. Aooooogah? What the hell was that supposed to mean? As far as he could tell, it wasn't particularly important. After all, it was coming from Jounouichi's brain. But he hated having his time wasted, even with meaningless words.

"Even Pegasus' cartoons were always more articulate than you. That it's only now that you notice says quite a bit about you." he replied, though another line followed soon after.

"But you're on an Island, fittingly. Salkia Island. In a perfect world, you would be gone again before you had time to get that through your thick skull."

Jounouchi's glare narrowed at the pixels that made up Kaiba's words. Every second he was here was reminding him exactly why he'd always hated that jerk of a CEO and why he always will.

"Quit being such an asshole! I mean it, there's somethin' weird about this place. Every time I try to say it, that's all that comes out. That ain't normal, Kaiba. But if you're here and this ain't a perfect world, guess that means I didn't die against Marik or get sent to that Shadow Realm."

He paused for a moment and quickly typed another message.

"Where's Yuug? Is he here? And... what about Mai."

The blonde frowned and gripped the phone, watching as the message sent. He knew it was wishful thinking, but he needed to talk to Mai. He knew she was probably still in the Shadow Realm, and he needed to get back to Battle City to fix everything.

Mai. Who was that, exactly? Kaiba couldn't recall. The only reason he bothered to remember Jounouchi's name was because he would have to deal with the idiot's mouth before he had access to his rival. There had been countless people he had stepped on who didn't warrant even a second look.

..Oh. Now he remembered. She had been on the Island previous, and hadn't done anything of note. Exactly what the Mutt had done previously as well. It was interesting how that worked.

"Time's not as you remember it, fool, and you'd do well to remember that starting now. No one's going to wait for you to catch up," he wrote. "But you master is here. I'm sure you'll sniff him out eventually. And fortunately, you're a few months too late to catch your female."

"Quit bein' so sketchy, Kaiba." The duelist typed with a glare. Just his luck to end up in some strange, foreign world, only to have to deal with god damn Seto Kaiba over a piece of junk communicator. Thanks for the cruel humor, Skull Island.

"I'll figure shit out on my own. Go choke on a hundo."

"That's a long sentence you're committing yourself to," Kaiba typed back almost immediately. "It would take a few years for you to get up to speed, at best."
