This was it. The big reveal. Mokuba wondered just... what could be so big that Seto was having trouble telling him. That didn't happen very often. And if he didn't need to know something, Seto usually said something along the lines of there was a reason he wasn't telling him and he didn't need to know. But this... It seemed like something Seto was afraid to tell him.

It wasn't hard to pick out Seto's tall figure and Mokuba smiled, giving his brother a wave as he approached. "Hey, Niisama."

At Mokuba's call, Seto was standing up from his table and nodding, his face as impassive as always. On the table in front of him was a chocolate parfait. There was no reason not to at least make this worthwhile for his brother.

"Mokuba," the brunet said, before sitting back down. "I would hope you are...settling back in well."

Mokuba's face lit up at the treat waiting. "Awesome! Thanks, Niisama. I was only joking when I said that," he confessed, although he certainly wouldn't say no to his favorite thing to eat.

He plopped down across from Seto, at ease for the moment. He nodded. "Yeah. I've been around long enough to know more or less what to basically expect and do. How have you been?"

Kaiba smirked. "Perhaps, but it's here now," he said. "No one else is going to eat it. I don't spend my money for nothing."

He sat back and listened to the boy, never once giving away the anxiety that was already twisting inside of him. What was he going to do if Mokuba disliked it? He certainly couldn't blame his brother if he did. They had always been together, the only one the other could trust. Kaiba still felt like he was betraying him somehow. Then again, he didn't want to go through all that hurt all over again. What he had brooded over on the mountain was more than enough.

"I've been fine," he commented absently, his mind still a million miles away. "I had to go and see the mansion for myself, since it was open. There is nothing of value inside."

Mokuba happily took a bite, digging in. He would never get tired of eating parfaits.

"You did? Wonder why it's there then..." he mused to himself. "I heard that people were singing while I was gone," he said, looking up at Seto with a tiny smirk, silently wondering what Seto would sound like when he was singing...

That would be weird.

Well, the parfait seemed to be winning him over. Seto figured that was better than nothing.

He shrugged slightly, though he scowled and glanced away at the mention of the singing. "People were," the brunet muttered. "It was the same as any other Island compulsion. It's not important for you to worry about it, Mokuba."

"At least it's over with now, right?" Mokuba said, trying to cheer him up. "I don't know to be glad or not I missed it. It would have been amusing to see certain people singing."

Oh it had been very amusing. And annoying at times. But for this particular occasion, Kaiba was incredibly relieved to see the event over and done with. The last thing he needed was to be singing his...emotions out for the whole Island to see.

"Hn," Kaiba grunted in affirmation. "You should be very glad. It was more trouble than it was worth." He sighed. "I would not have been so willing to do this if it were still going on."

Mokuba laughed softly. "Well, I'm glad you're going to tell me, whatever it is. I promise I won't be mad?" He really wasn't sure what to expect but there wasn't a lot Seto could do for Mokuba to be truly upset with him.

The taller Kaiba forced back a wince, instead focusing on Mokuba's rapidly disappearing parfait. "I don't want you bound by promises," he said quietly, in a tone that would make it hard for any people outside their table to hear. "That's my job."

He leaned forward to look into Mokuba's eyes intently. "And I will reaffirm my promises to you here. I will never betray you again, Mokuba. I need you...to remember that. You will always come first for me, no matter what."

Mokuba blinked in surprise. "Betray me? You've never done that, Niisama..." What was he talking about? He was starting to get a little worried.

This time Seto did wince as he glanced away. Mokuba had always been too forgiving. When he had rejected him to protect him from Gozaburo, only to start believing his own lies...no, this wasn't the time. He'd have to allow the boy his forgiveness for now. They had stranger things to discuss.

"And I won't. Ever," he insisted quickly, wanting to stress the issue. "You must understand that, no matter what it seems like."

His head tilted downwards slightly, those blue eyes still revealing nothing. "..You've been talking a lot to...the other Yuugi, recently. Atem."

"Of course I know that..." Mokuba trailed off. He did and believed that with all his heart. He'd always be important to Seto and his brother would also be important to him, no matter what happened.

"Yeah... He's a good friend..." Mokuba said about Atem.

"He is...certainly not the most worthless person on this Island," Kaiba muttered, probably the closest he had ever come to a proper compliment. But he wasn't done yet.

"I cannot say I did not do the same...for a period of time," he added, his voice even softer than it had been before. "But in the process I ended up kissing him at the beach. Then elsewhere."

It was as casual and cool as Kaiba Seto got. Sure, he was sitting ramrod straight in his chair, and his eyes were going everywhere to make sure no one else was listening, but he was attempting to keep this from seeming like a big deal. He had been lying or avoiding the truth with Mokuba for long enough.

The least he could do is tell him straight up what was going on.

Mokuba stared.

Then stared some more.

Then stared a little longer.

Seto had kissed someone?!

"... Oh," was all that came out of his mouth, too surprised to say much else.

Kaiba's face grew more strained, and he shifted awkwardly in his chair. That didn't sound good....but there was still more.

"Mokuba, I really...I don't know where this is going, I cannot tell you exactly why I continue it, and I swear I would have told you earlier if I could have," he added quickly.

"You deserved to know about this when it started."
