Atem was here mainly for Usagi. Of course he wouldn't say that if he was asked, though who would really ask such a thing? The flower shop had disappeared so the roses would have to wait. He was a little angry about that, but in the mess he'd at least managed to find the present he'd gotten for Serenity.

It was akin, sort of, to the charm bracelet he'd bought for Usagi. This one was a silver bracelet, with little star charms that reflected one's mood, or so it said. He had never seen such a thing, but he thought maybe Serenity would enjoy it. Shopping for presents (especially for women) was not his forte.

And so he'd put it in a neat little black velvet box, around which was tied a red satin bow. He hoped that she liked it, but he couldn't really be sure. Damn those flowers for disappearing. They weren't his gift to her, Usagi's in fact, and losing them felt like some sort of failure on his part.

On the side he stood, looking rather dull and tired; things definitely weren't going his way lately. But he was determined to put on a small smile and push through it. He could do this, he kept telling himself. Things would be fine. Today was not his to own, but Serenity's and Usagi's. He would honor that.

"Atem," coming to his side she briefly took in his face before glancing away. It's not as if he would ever be unrecognizable. His outrageous hair, and the golden look to him - he reminded much of her mother, no, of Usagi.

They both loved to talk.

No wonder those two were friends, or .. acquaintances. Or .. "You fill her heart with such joy, being here for her." Crimson eyes slid over to Usagi, whatever they were on this damned world, with whatever it meant here to be .. anything. Even evil.

His eyes raised to the woman speaking with him. Well obviously she'd be here, it was her party after all. He gave her a small nod. It was unfortunate, this party's timing. He knew he'd have to keep well to himself and not drag out anything unwarranted. His emotions were hard to check sometimes, especially when he was like this.

"I am here for you as well." Despite the unpleasantness and her general attitude, Serenity as Usagi was now calling her was... well, she was young, she needed nurturing, she, over time, could become a very good friend. She was not his to nurture and he almost didn't even have the patients for such a thing. But as she was now, she was at least intriguing to talk to from time to time.

He held the box out to her, a small smile on his lips as he couldn't manage much else. "This is for you."

Her head tilt to his words; here for you as well, such a concept, she could hardly grasp. Why would he be here for her? Then, again, why would he have even brought her the water in the jail? These people here, they were just as confusing as the ones from her world. They did things that so often made very little sense. Why do something for someone unfavorable?

"Hn.." then to box that was held out to her she raised her brows and studied the square with her eyes. Hesitant, she reached for the gift. Fingers traced the crimson lace before she pinched the fabric and pulled it apart. The string looped between her fingers and she pushed open the box "Oh.." a slip of her shock, before she pierced her lips shut, then they fell into a small frown. It was beautiful. Though, for what she was expecting, was beyond her. She really wasn't expecting a gift.

"Atem.." she brought her eyes up to his, a small nod "Thank you," swallowing the awkward knot in her throat. But she didn't understand, why he would gift her with such a treasure.

The frown made him feel uneasy. He was new to this sort of thing as well- buying gifts for women at the very least. Birthdays and gifts in general he could understand, jewelry as well. These things were commonplace in his time. But his choice, he thought, might have been wrong- Or worse, inappropriate.

Still, he forced himself to stay still and not get in the way of her thoughts. Despite the uneasy feeling, he'd let her decide what she needed to. And if she didn't like it, that would be that. No use crying over it.

There was a cool and very quiet breath exhaled when she thanked him. His eyes kept close to hers as he gave her a nod in return, the smile coming back to him and the unease leaving. "You're welcome." Well, she seemed to have liked it which was a good thing. "Happy birthday."

She eyes around, seeing Usagi fuss about elsewhere. So this was what friends do then, they come together even for something like this. He didn't have to come, yet .. he did, for Usagi, and to deliver a gift to her as well. Crimson eyes sailed back to the box in her hand, she held it out to him.

"Atem," a small, awkward moment before "Please, will you put it on my wrist?"

He stepped forward without much hesitation and took the box carefully from her. It only took him a minute to get it unhooked from the box itself, placing the box down on a surface nearby. After that he raised his hand to hers, taking hers gently in his own with a calm smile.

He brought both ends of the bracelet around her wrist, fitting the clasp together. Once it was secured around her wrist he let go of her hand. He reached back for the box, taking the bottom out of it to reveal a small paper.

"When the colors on the stars change, its said to reflect your mood with a different color." He held out the paper to her. He was really interested to see if it held true, as he hadn't tried for himself obviously. It was her gift after all.

Taking the paper she frowned, at first she didn't know what she was reading, everything was so colorful that her eyes were being distracted from one color to the next. Finally she looked to her wrist and noticed that the color on the charms were transforming and her mouth opened "..u..uhh," as intelligent as she sounds "they .." when they look as if they were finally deciding on a color she looked to the chart for reference.

For as well as she can see, the color was a brownish and it matched with..

Nervous.

A small blush to her cheeks, though a bit out of frustration she drew the paper down to her side and looked to Atem with a curious expression "They said.." quickly trying to find a feeling, an emotion other then what was foremost in her mind "undecided." Swallowing.

Atem tried to keep a close watch on what was happening without staring too much. It wasn't as if he'd wanted to put her on the spot or anything, and he was starting to feel like that was exactly what he was doing. The small noises she was making and the faint dust of pink on her face could attest to that.

Still, when she spoke up, his eyes moved to the charms and then back to her. His curiosity with the situation was getting the better of him in the end.

Undecided, though. He was glad it wasn't angry or sad, at least. "Well that's what they say, but is it the truth?" It was a small murmur; trying to figure out if the bracelet was indeed accurate.

"This thing .. isn't accurate?" Well now, didn't she feel as if she might have overreacted there a bit. She sighed and her crimson eyes drew away from his own. Hell, if she would've known this thing could be wrong, she wouldn't have felt so obligated to lie about it. Or nervous, but then, she was feeling nervous.

"I.. I don't know," swallowing, she clasped her hand over the charms, looking down to see her hand covering the wrist "Maybe it works better on different people." Though, she couldn't be at fault for the malfunction .. could she? No, absolutely not.

There was a slight shrug to his shoulders. "It's completely possible that it could be inaccurate. I've never seen such a thing, so I'm not sure." Magical jewelry that told one's mood. Honestly... Though it wasn't actually too far fetched from where he was from, but he wasn't about to say that.

Serenity seemed.... well Atem wasn't sure. But she was stuttering and pausing a lot. He had to wonder if his presence was making her nervous or something close to it. To just leave would be highly rude and she hadn't exactly told him to go away. He knew she could speak her mind when she wanted, so he was a little confused as to what was going on.

"Also possible," He responded with a delicate smile. "If you don't like it I'm sure you could always take it back and get something else?" Store refunds or something like that. Also an unfamiliar concept to him, but he hadn't exactly bought it at a market.

Oh if he asked, she would brush him off; this whole Birthday gathering has thrown her in a fit of a dilemma. While she would easily push away anyone that dared near her presence, and the very thought of a gathering - on Usagi's whim no less - absolutely irked her, there was a simple fact that she wanted this.

Not because Usagi gathered this, or because it was Atem that decided to show, but because she had always wanted this. A gathering with people that cared for her, but she'll not be too delusional to believe that anyone really did care. Usagi was, no doubt, trying to find means to manipulate her and lie to her again. Just so she can feel that victorious little rush of having the absolute control over her emotions. The supreme Ruler that she was, this was befitting for a Queen to want; everyone's love, even the love of your enemy, to the love of something she despised. Serenity would not be fooled, she'll not be carried away so easily with this facade, she knew her mother despised her the most.

"I like it, very much, and I will wear it so that everyone will be enchanted with the ever changing color of the charms, of my moods." Sounding more confident there with the boost of her previous thoughts, although, when what she had said replayed in her mind, she felt a small frown pull on her lips "Perhaps it would serve some sort of warning for those who begin to upset me.." She pulled the paper in front of her face, looking for the appropriate color for; annoyed, upset, frazzled, etc.

"Hm.."
