Principal Kaiba was nothing less than meticulous. He noticed immediately that his emails had been accessed by someone else. Maybe he could have ignored that. He was busy, of course, and students made a point of trying to hack into the system. He could only work with the security system he had been given, as he hadn't had time to fix it himself, and the school board's skill at finding the best technology was certainly nothing worth celebrating. But then, of course, came the little searching icon. Kaiba immediately knew who it was ( ... )

Ed had also bypassed all of the firewalls and restrictions, looking at the assignments for prom and what teachers were to be stationed where; she also looked at the listed of students that were prohibited from going. She had also found another nicely hidden file though before she would open she heard someone approaching and then the voice which caused to freeze where she was. “Uh oh, Ed’s been caught.”

The girl just sat there for a moment staring blankly before escaping out of everything as she slid the goggles down around her neck and turned around to face Kaiba. Laughing and smiling nerviously Ed raised one arm and scratched the back of her head. "Ed's in gym right now." Though given another minute she could have made it appear that she had free period since she was already in the system. Slipping out from corner she went past the principal, looking back for just a moment.

"Yes, Ed might just have been caught," Kaiba mocked, his tone a little darker. His eyes narrowed as she moved her goggles and stood up to look at him. His stare remained cold and impassive through her explanation and attempts to defuse the situation.

He even let her walk past him. But once she looked back, he turned on his heel to walk beside her. "Edward, you like being in your advanced classes, don't you?" he murmured, trying to stay conversational.

Ed gulps a little almost letting out a small eep when Kaiba glared at her, almost doing so again when he turned and started following her. Listening to what he said Ed nodded her head, “Uh-huh, the other classes are too stuffy and boring.”

With pretty much every academic Ed was in an accelerated class as well as being a head of where most her age were; in fact it was likely simply because of her test scores and grades that Kaiba tolerated her even this much. That and the fact that since she was living with Jing he wasn’t able to get rid of her, though unlike Jing he could influence, sway and scare the girl.

"I thought so," he commented absently. His eyes turned to her, unreadable as ever. He knew all of this would likely go back to Jing, and that really there was little he could do. But he could make things complicated. Ed was young enough that that would still work, hopefully ( ... )

Ed listened intently as Kaiba talked, nodding as the first part and then looking worries when he started talking about putting her back into lower courses with peers her own age. It wasn’t necessarily the age difference that sat Ed apart so much as her eccentricity, the way she walked, talked, and dressed. She was already the president of a technology club and member of the chess club which were meant to keep her out of trouble. At the last statement though Ed paused, looking down at the floor and her feet, "Trouble for Jing?"

Ed didn’t want to be a burden to anyone which was part of the reason that she had always moved around so much and had always been self sufficient. Thus far Jing had also been one of the only people that really got along with Ed and seemed to understand her, not to mention she had fun talking with him since they both had their own way of answering questions. Catching up to the man she seemed a little quieter, "Who would Kaiba-person report it to?"

"There would have to be a committee called to discuss it, as there was one to discuss moving you into a higher grade," he said. It would be one which Jing would have to be a part of anyway, as guidance councilor, and Kaiba didn't expect it to get very far because of that, but it didn't have to. He really didn't have much intention of going through with it, unless her behavior continued to be a significant problem. But just saying it seemed to be having an affect.

"But Jing would have to argue your case, wouldn't he? It's certainly more work than he would have to do if there weren't any question over your behavior," Kaiba continued, crossing his arms over his chest. "There are much more productive ways to spend your time, Edward. Less destructive ways."
