He smirked, though, continuing. "Just as arrogant of you to love the sound of your name from my lips, in form of an impassioned scream." Atem was not about to let the hypocrisy go unnoticed, not when it was so delicious.
However, he wasn't expecting Seto to go into such deep territory. He hadn't expected any favors, not like the ones the brunet was speaking of. And the fact that he knew Seto could do it, too.. His eyes opening a little more from their narrow, as if searching the blue back. Trying to find out if Seto was just toying with him, lying, trying to get him all worked up for the cause of nothing. But he could see and hear nothing beyond that note of sincerity.
It was touching; damnably so. And in the furthest reaches of his mind, some part of him was screaming to let this die. To walk away now before it was too late. He didn't belong here, he would never be here, even if Seto could make it happen- and he could. He wanted it, so, so very much. And it was right there. They were killing each other, and he pondered for a moment if each of them knew how much this was going to hurt when it was all over. Because all they were doing was dragging each other deeper into this illusion.
The smirk died on his lips, nothing but a whisper of a smile. He wanted so much to be able to push passed this. "Don't trouble yourself like that." It was all he could think to do. "You have things to do, people to kick out, a company to run, a brother to look after.. I don't need to add on to your things to do." It was almost a strong sentence, if not for the look of pain and wish in his own eyes.
"I'm just one person." And he regretted saying that immediately after doing so.

He couldn't help but smirk a little when Atem stared at him. There was desire for it in that stare, no matter how much pain rose up to mask it, or what the shorter man said. Besides...Atem really had no idea.
"Idiot. Don't draw away from what you want if it is being offered to you," Kaiba replied sharply. "You have no idea how easy it is to get into government databases. The Mutt could stumble over a way to get in, and that's before the Chinese hackers rip their firewalls to shreds." His lips tightened, along with his grip. Kaiba even bothered to bend his knee just enough to look Atem straight in the eye. This was Kaiba the CEO now, will of steel quite evident in the tone of his voice alone.
"And do not be blind enough to think I do this for your benefit alone. You have no idea how hard it is to get my mind around the fact that you are here, that I can touch you, that I can speak to you like this. Your very presence forces me to acknowledge things that go so far beyond my understanding of the world, I wonder if I am simply imagining it all," he said coolly. "Even if you disappear tomorrow, doing this makes what has happened real. Maybe...I will not decide I am losing my mind when I look at it."

It wasn't just rivalry anymore. He had known that but this was... almost too deep to fathom.
"As long as it has some sort of benefit for you." He managed, smirk trying to rise back into place. He was feeling vulnerable underneath that stare and promise. "But let us both hope that I do not just disappear the next morning. It would be damaging for both, and I couldn't imagine for whom more." That was some sort of backwards challenge that he hadn't meant. As if emotions and suffering were meant to be challenged. That was stupid.
"If the mere memory of me can keep you sane, Seto, then feel free. At least I will have done something useful for you." And really in that sentiment there was so much more.

"It has happened before. I think I will be used to it if it happens again," he replied quietly, scrambling to pull his dignity back together before something broke in him. "But...it does not excuse the non-useful things you have done. Your fingerprints still sully my Dragons." He glanced at the clock on his computer screen. "And as of now, I have gone half an hour in this office without firing somebody. My staff will be quite concerned, which will also be your fault."

His own pride had to be attended to, and as tightly as Seto had held him and then acted this way, the walls rose back into place. He grinned, falling back into something easier, something familiar, something he knew the brunet would have rathered right then.
"Well I'm about to go be less useful outside." He remarked back. "But if you think of a way I could be helpful to you, let me know. I'll consider it." Then the grin widened, he tipped his head to the side, eying Seto rather unabashedly.
"Your staff might also be concerned with the fact that there has been no yelling, and that I am leaving your office a half an hour later. I wonder what they might think." Actually, he did wonder what this would mean for his staff. He was sure they weren't used to seeing someone stick around so long and leave with a smile.

However, Atem's second comment drew a frown onto Kaiba's face. He was right about how odd the situation might seem. Oddness led to questions, questions led to gossip, and gossip was wasting company time and drew in the media into something they didn't need to be in. He needed to do something. Looking around in his desk, the brunet finally drew out a heavy glass paperweight, put there specifically to be breakable. With a quick heft of the paperweight, he glanced at Atem.
"When you go outside, look upset," he said coolly, before he turned to the doors and threw the glass weight against them. It shattered with a thunk and a satisfying rain of glass, and Seto smirked. "NOW GET OUT!" he snarled to no one in particular, but it was a perfectly familiar tone to those outside who had been working for KaibaCorp for years.

But the calm before the fake storm had him smirking, eyes lowering. "I would be happy to keep your mean-spirited image up for you, Seto. But consider this you owing me." Atem acted for no one, unless there was something to gain.
The shattering behind him didn't even entice a jump, but his hand moved to the handle of the door, a smirk at Kaiba over his shoulder before a scowl came over his features. He exited the room, slamming the door shut behind him, taking his little pseudo-tirade all the way to the elevator and not looking any the less grumpy until he was outside and far away from the K.C. employees eyes.
