She had been resting up until that point. Once she heard the knock on the door, she opened her eyes slowly. Still a bit in a daze, her gaze went over to the door. Someone... was there? "Come in," her soft voice rang.

Ichigo pushed open the door and stepped inside, only to close it behind him. He knit his brows when he saw her, and immediately cast his dark gaze to the floor. The teen didn't make any move to come closer, and that pang of guilt was stabbing at his gut again.

"Ah...hey..." He said quietly, leaning back against the door and stuffing his other hand into the other pocket.

"Ichigo," she said, sitting up. The injuries were mainly healed up, thanks to Neji, Cissnei, and Hinata. But even still, she would take Neji's advice and take it easy. When Ichigo's reiatsu disappeared from the island, Rukia had no other choice than to 'take it easy'.

Violet eyes looked at him. He was distant... distant for a lot of reasons she couldn't put her finger on at the moment. A hand motioned for him to come closer, perhaps taking a seat near her.

Ichigo glanced up at her motioning and he swallowed hard before sliding his hands out of his pockets. He slowly moved over to her, and took a seat on the edge of the bed. Ichigo finally brought himself to look at the smaller Shinigami, his brows knit.

"I was back in Hueco Mundo." Ichigo stated, lifting one hand to brush through his mess of orange hair.

"So you left the island not by choice." Rukia was relieved to hear that much. Ichigo didn't leave because he willed it to. Even though, she knew down inside he wanted to leave the island at that point in time. But she waited for him to speak on.

"Ah...yeah. Well kind of. Honestly I was glad to be out of here, Rukia. And I was even more pissed to be back at first but..."

Ichigo trailed off from that thought and changed the subject quickly. He didn't feel like getting yelled at for trying to break the barrier, especially since they both knew that that meant punishment and he had yet to get his.

"You were fighting that zero guy...Yammy, and Chad and Renji were both...out. I came and saved you, and then started fightin' him. My mask wouldn't work and he got me, then Byakuya and Kenpachi showed up right before I was gonna get squeezed to death. Then I was back. Long story short anyway."

"Renji..." Her friend, her best friend she hadn't seen in so long. Renji and Chad had met up with Rukia for only a couple of moments until Yammy decided to make an appearance. And then she stopped.

Ichigo had come to save her...

Again.

Just what was she doing then? She had no idea. Rukia knew she was fighting Yammy before she was pulled to Salkia. She had only assumed that she too had been knocked out somehow and her consciousness guided her here...

Wait...

She was in Salkia. Ichigo SAVED Rukia? But... how could she be in two places at once?!

The girl said nothing while she contemplated this.

"I'm sure he's okay....I mean...I didn't exactly have time to check up on him but... he's Renji." Ichigo replied in a confident voice, turning to offer her an obviously fake smile.

"Ichigo, drop the act." She said firmly, snapping out of her thoughts by his words. Renji was always always tougher than he looked, but they were going up against something that none of them could imagine. She could only HOPE he was okay, but no one knew.

Ichigo's head snapped in her direction and his eyes widened in surprise.

"Rukia..."

"Don't use that smile around me as if everything's going to be okay." Her words were stern and cold. "Acting like that will only continue to upset me."

"Tch."

With that the smile was gone and Ichigo was looking away from Rukia once again. He knit his brows and set his elbows on his knees, clenching one fist.

"What the hell am I supposed to do then?!"

"Ichigo..." The last thing she wanted to do was get into an argument.

"No,really. I don't know what the hell to do anymore, Rukia. I'm trying not to act like I don't want to be here for you guys, but we all know the truth! The last place I want to be is here, especially after our fight!"

Ichigo wasn't yelling, in fact his voice was rather quiet despite the frustrated look on his face.

"Let's... let's just deal with the here and now. That's... that's all we can do. I'm here and you're back. The best action is we take it once step at a time." Her violet eyes gazed on him. "You can do at least that, correct?"

Ichigo nodded at that and looked away from Rukia. She was right, as usual. There was nothing he could do about it anyway, and freaking out about it was only going to make things worse for all of them.
