Birkin had successfully stayed away from pretty much everyone thus far. After whitnessing the fire, he'd spent his time as far away from the survivors as possible. Actually, he wasn't even sure if anyone had died, but he certianly assumed so. There should have at least been some sort of casualties anyway ( ... )

Yamato glanced up out of the corner of her eye at the stranger. Forcing a smile, she responded, "Oh yeah, it's really pretty."

Yamato watched him, wondering just who he was. She hadn't seen him before, but then again, she could have forgotten. Damn amnesia was causing her far too many problems.

"I don't know you, right?" she asked bluntly. Might as well get that out of the way.

"No, I just got here a little bit ago." William said, meaning the island or whatever the hell this place was. While she smiled, he studied her for a moment after speaking, looking a bit serious as he realized it was a bit forced. He'd had too many moments in his life where he did the same, and after being friends with a guy like Wesker, he could just read things like that.

"My name is William Birkin." He said. He decided not to press matters unless she wanted to. For a moment he wondered what was wrong with him. Why did he even care anyway? She was a complete stranger. For all he knew she could turn around and gut him for his virus. Yet, still he was here, talking to her.

"What's your name?"

"I'm Nakano Yamato!" she informed the man, trying to be every bit the cheery girl she portrayed to the world. It wouldn't do to be so depressed around new people.

"William Birkin huh? ....You're that scientist aren't you!" Yamato guessed, having remembered speaking with him a few days ago. Guess this meant he found his way out of the woods. "Well, you certainly picked a nice time to find a way out of the woods, didn't you?" She was teasing him.

"Yeah, I am." William said. He turned his head and stared at her for a moment, taking in her name. Still he didn't recognize it, he wondered if she'd even told him her name previouly, or maybe they hadn't even talked at all. His message could have gotten out to anyone after all. which meant he was right in being careful as to what he might say over the damn thing ( ... )

Yamato quirked an eyebrow. He was being serious... She sighed and shook her head. She leaned back on her hands, eyes to the sky, but not quite looking at anything.

"Wish I could tell you it's not usually this bad, but unfortunately I don't know if it is or not. Though at least you did find your way out. I hear there are monsters in there." Upon speaking of monsters, she smirked and wiggled the fingers of one hand at Birkin, as if trying to emphasis the evil or spookiness of such a thing.

"Though yeah, the homeless thing does suck."

"Well, I'm not saying anyone is lying, but I haven't seen any monsters while I was out there. Guess I'm lucky." William said, trying his best to keep a smile on his face while she wiggled her finger at him. It was a little awkward coming from someone so much younger than himself. He'd have snapped a little at her, but he decided he needed patience for this to work.

"Yeah. I'm not even sure if I had a home in there anyway. But it'd be nice to have one now. I hate tents and camping." he said honestly.

"I'm sure you would have been placed somewhere. This island seems to have a place for everyone as soon as they show up." She thought so at least, she hadn't heard of anyone looking for a place to live, and this place certainly didn't mind moving people from place to place.

"Things will hopefully be back to normal soon, or well... As normal as things around here get," Yamato said with a shrug. "The village is rebuilding itself, or something like that, as we speak. And at least we've got this much. The rain would have been awful without them."

"So, people just automatically have homes when they arrive here? It sounds ridiculous, but, then again, everything I have ran into here has been ridiculous and obviously very real." He said, "What if you don't like the place this island gives you? I'd think it'd be a lot of trouble to be roomed with people you can't stand."

"This place has a normal?" William asked then felt dumbfounded. How in the world does a village rebuild itself?

"How-" He didn't even know what to think or how to properly communicate his confusion.

"Then tough luck," Yamato responded with a shrug to Birkin's inquiry about not liking who you are roomed with. "Though honestly," she pondered, "I don't know if I've ever run into my roommates in my house..." And in truth, she really didn't know, she didn't remember anything before a few weeks ago.

She smirked at his disbelief at normal and his wondering on the village rebuilding itself.

"Like I said, normal for this place." She fixed him with a look that could be placed somewhere between playful and evil.

"How can you not know if you've run into your roommates or not?" It may have sounded harsh, but, he was really just curious. For all he knew it could be like living on your own. Which he would prefer over seeing some annoying kid all the time who left a mess everywhere. Not that he knew what that was like, he had pretty much always lived on his own until he got married to Annette. Even then she was pretty clean like he was. He guessed that happened when two scientists lived together.

"I don't think I'll ever get used to what is considered normal here." William said, ignoring her look. He could only place the look as eventual teasing and hoped she wouldn't. He was really too confused right now and he didn't want to get mad or be upset on top of it.

Yamato's expression remained playful, but if one looked closely enough they would notice her eyes lacked the feeling behind the expression. "I forgot," she drawled, tone light.

Yamato shrugged. "You do what you have to do." She glanced down at her arm, remembering the burn there that was currently covered. She bet it was going to hurt like hell if her name went away again.

"You forgot? How- Oh... sorry." He kinda felt like a dick now. He had seen that look before and while he was ignoring it, he didn't want to cross the line and really hurt her either.

"I guess so. I'm not sure how quickly I'll pick up on this place. It's very different at home, I mean, towns just don't rebuild themselves." He watched her intently as she looked down at her arm and he wondered if she was hurt briefly. Should he ask? Should he leave it? Birkin was never one to know what the right thing to do was in these situations.

"Yeah, I think in most places towns don't just rebuild themselves. They don't where I'm from either." She took her eyes off her arm and looked up at Birkin. "So, what's your world like?"

Yamato wasn't sure if she actually cared to know, but it was a distraction from her current concerns at least.
