Thumper Update

The echocardiogram was finally done today. He has cardiomyopathy. Basically the atria of his heart are enlarged. His heart is in a-fib (atrial fibriliation) which means its not contracting right. People get this too. The problem with this is that blood doesnt pump out good & can get thick/gooey & clot.

Naturally, my Thumper has a clot. Normally they'd be able to go in & take it out but his heart is too sick. The clot is in one of the atria of the heart (upper chamber) .Usually in cats, if the clot moves, it goes to the legs. If this happens, he will be unable to use his back legs and it will be painful such as when our feet fall asleep. I will have to put him down if/when this happens

we'll be doing the med thing. He needs to take either plavix or asprin to prevent new clots. I cant get over how much money plavix is. Its $5.00+ per pill. He'll be on a heart med to try to get his heart into a normal rhythm and a blood pressure med.

Send good thoughts to my Thump if you can. I really want him to be around until he's an old kitty but if he cant well I'd like him to go peacefully and not feel any pain
