I have arrived in Vermont. Well, a few daya go I arrived, and just now am I settled in enough to sit down and write y'all about it. I am in Johnson VT, at a writers retreat. There are actually more artists and people of that persuasion here, but there are about 10 writers, and I am enjoying taking walks with them and discussing things like publishing and voice, and figuring out what to do with the words once you have spewed them. It is a small town with one of everything, one laundrymat, one coffe shop, one boostore, one grocery store, one pharmacy, one hardware store, etc. There is a river that runs through it, so dinner is nicely accompanyed by river song. I have aroom of my own in an old farmhouse. It is cozy with a comfortable reading chair and funky art on the walls. I have walked through the immediate surrounding area and it is mostly farms and woodland. The rain is here for another week, which makes it easier to sit inside with tea and read. I can't remember when I last read so much. I am also writing sme, but I feel more like I am top loading my immagination right now, and the words will come out later. Or not. There is very little pressure here. It feels relaxed. I am havng some great conversations with artists here and talking about all kinds of artistic things. I am in my element, except for that I haven't really found a kindered spirirt to giggle and laugh with. It is all qite cerebral now. Makes me miss y'all for silliness and art so wonderfully balanced.
Foo-sorry you're sick. Good excuse for Tom Ka soup. Gleepith, time for self-reflection, long walks and mirrors. Feel free to write anytime, I'm keeping up with my LJ.
Am planning a ladies backpacking trip this summer...any takers?
back to the chair...
