Saturday Morning

Ok, so now for a longer post regarding my adventures of the last few weeks.

Two Saturdays ago I was in Florida, and it almost snowed. The festival goers were baffled, as they bundled up in all available clothing in order to brave the cold to see their favorite bands. Highlight for me was the dinner entirely composed of fried things, and the double mandolin set by Mike Marshall and a man named Hamilton from Brazil. I was floored. Not that I even knew the half of what they were doing musically, but it sounded amazing. We drove through the night to the Orlando airport, where we slept on the bus for a few hours to be awakened at 4:30 am by the Bob Marley CD on the bus stereo. Up and at 'em. We packed up everything and got to the airport where we began our journey from Orlando, to Ft Lauderdale to Montego Bay Jamaica. Now, me with my one carry-on bag was fine, but the band with it gear was a lesson in group motion. We managed and found ourselves on a bus hurtling through the narrow lanes of the coast road towards Negril, our destination. We got there and unloaded our stuff and Bryan and I took a walk on the white sand beach (7 miles long and clear blue water) before heading in to get some fish for dinner. The band played a music festival there, we put-putted about on a scooter, ate jerk chicken in great heaps, played lots of scrabble, swam and swam and snorkled, drank Red Stripe beer, and generally had a tropical time. Hightlights included eating a young coconut, snorkeling, dancing to the band while in the warm water, with sand under my feet, chilling at a fancy villa rented by some folks, and a pancake type thing called festival.

B and I took five days after everyone else left to stay on and hung out by the water and did some wedding plotting, and wrote our vows. Can I just say that this process is one of the sweetest I have ever experianced? Sentimental me was floored. Thursday we got up at 8 am and swam, packed our gear up and hopped on a bus to the airport, got on the flight to Ft Lauderdale, then to Orlando and got back to the bus in the long term parking at about 9 pm. A long travel day. Customs is a facinating phenomena in the US. So many american flags I felt anxious.

Now we are back in Florida at another festival, preparing to head north to New England. I am drinking sangria and wearing my hat and enjoying the slightly cooler temperatures and battling the machine to get our honeymoon to happen. The manager is trying to tell me that we can't take it when we planned. We haven't talked yet though, so he doesn't know what I've got in mind...do not mess with the willow...
