a rant

so i was listening to NPR a little while ago and they were talking about twitter, which i guess is like a microbloging site that's sole purpose is for you to put in what you are doing AT THAT SECOND for everyone to see. like the facebook status update, minus the rest of the page ( Read more... )

This has nothing to do with the microblog you mention here, but it is a comment on your "three types of bloggers" idea.

I would say I am blogger C, only in the sense that here in my Live Journal, I post about what I did on a particular day or weekend or something like that. Not because I want to let everyone know, I want to remember as many details as possible about events that I enjoyed or that were important to me. I keep them readable because a lot of my friends have LJs, and I'm assume that at least some of them find enjoyment in keeping up on my life.

Also, I think music blogs have become so important to the independent record industry (which in my opinion is both a good and bad thing, but I won't get into that). I love reading them because these blogger critics are real people just like me. None of us really know shit about music, but we have a crazed love for it, and that's all that matters. I'd much rather read what a dude that seems like he could be a friend of mine has to say about a record I am interested in than some music journalist I've never heard of. However I will admit, there are some bloggers out there, if not many, who seem like total d-bags.

Sorry, this was an insane counter-rant, that I don't really think had anything to do with what your post is about. It just got me thinking about the all-mighty BLOG, something I don't ever really think about.

i don't think there's anything wrong with blogging either.....obviously as i posted it in livejournal ;). i use mine for the same reason you do, to remember stuff, and to keep the few people that read this updated on anything that may be semi-major.

this twitter things gives you like a hundred characters or something to post....nothing of substance can be written in 100 characters or less (i'm sure that statement will come back to bite me in the ass...). like seriously though....is it necessary to let the entire world know how you are feeling and what you are thinking and what you are doing every minute of the day? argh! get over yourself people!

haha, sorry.
