good things
seeing stefan every day
seeing my friends on a regular, much more frequent basis
being a mere hundred yards away from the muscovy ducks (see below)
a view of the water (<3!)
A&W within walking distance
elizabeth park
bad things
driving 65+ miles a day
driving 65+ miles a day in a jeep
spending $12+ dollars a day in gas to drive 65+ miles a day in a jeep
driving an hour to work
driving an hour to work to work 9+ hours
driving home for an hour after a 10+ hour day.
the goods outweigh the bads, for sure. however i am going to be super-thrilled when my job is over and i start school so i am not constantly driving and away from home so much. but being down here has been amazing. instead of going home to sit around for four or five hours before bed, i always have something to do and/or someone to see. despite my constant bitterness about gas money, i have never ever been happier. especially because....
stefan, marie, jeremy and i are planning a camping trip to the leelanau state park up in northport for the middle of august! one of my top three favorite places in the state - possibly the world. stefan has never been to the dunes excpect in the winter - i am just so ridiculously pumped. i love love love it up there. i might not come back.
in other news, i locked myself out of my apartment this past sunday when shannon came to visit. i had no spare keys and no landlord in the state and no $80 laying around to pay a locksmith so i walked my timid self over to the fire station which is right across the street and meekly approached one of the firemen who was out watching kids squirt the big hose for the street fair and told him my story. so he got a couple other guys and a big ladder and they successfully attempted a heroic break-in of my second story apartment. they knocked down a blind, but other than that there were no casualties. one of them asked for my number. that was probably protocol. but then he asked if i wanted to come back and squirt the big hose. that probably wasn't.
now i am sitting around in my pajammies because i randomly got the week off. i have so much i can do! the first of which calling the physical therapy place to set up my evaluation (that is, after i finish this entry of course....and possibly after i make a list of all the other things i need to do.) but it should be a great week. steve and i might to kayaking, which would be great also. whoo!
