Anyhow Stories, Moral & Otherwise

Canon and counter-canon. Early on, the work of Hans Christian Andersen inspired much the same urge to panic in me that department store mannequins did. Later on, of course, my baby sister and I could spend a happy Saturday morning laughing it up at the expense of a campy early '70s TV version of "The Little Match Girl," and who wouldn’t enjoy the ( Read more... )

do you have an IM at which you are available? (feel free to screen this for security purposes, if so)

At any rate, this is one of my favorites. If I had time I'd make a proper response, hopefully later on tonight I will.

Very nice.

oh lovely quote (my favorite book of all time)

Though I always think of salimondo as smelling of a high grassy plain in late August - dry, but not dust-dry... the clean dry smell of summer wheat and tall sweetgrass that has had no rain for a month... this mixed with the faintest scent of honey, from some busy hive just out of sight...

and his color is the tan-gold of the same field...

it's a field that, from a distance, appears to be burnt badly by the sun - and yet, when you walk out into it, you find that it you are surrounded by lush ripeness, and you want to just lay down and be surrounded by it

er, at least, that's how I see him

With all respect and gratitude to the kind things people may say, I in fact have no lower jaw and give off a strange sweet-and-sour odor like the parking lot of a Necco wafer factory. Omba! To me my loyal dwarf! Have you brought the eagle's blood that sustains me?

I think I am a reflection.

You need to stop stealing my dwarf. My metal hands need repairing.

Hey, we asked him who he wanted to live with and he chose me. You got the humongous Mongolian mute and Black Wing, Prince of the Timber Wolves. If you and your metal hands have a problem with that, we can renegotiate.

Actually it's funny you should mention metal hands.

I haven't IMed in about seven years, but am in town if we plan far enough ahead. Thanks as always for your attention and perpetual labors. I always think of John Henry with that hammer when I see your icon.

Maybe one day we could hit up The Palm on 49th. They have some of the best steak and cocktails in Midtown.

It's good and will do so -- leaning away from drink tonight anyway (slogging through backlog as it is, haven't had the place to myself in a week).
