That pretty much sets it straight for me; II can't go to this country. 3 million people just tossed aside to live in absolute poverty. To sleep on rubble. Only human beings are capable of acting this way, and this is supposed to be a consciously aware society? We're supposed to be lifting humanity higher, not letting our brethren sleep in the dirt. Bull and shit. It's too much. I'd feel guilty as hell, holidaying in someone else's misery.
It's scandalous.
I know there are scandals in this country, and I believe this one is pretty fucking bad. I wouldn't want to vacation in certain parts of New Orleans either. I can send money, sign petitions, but it's pretty useless. All I can do is be grateful I live in a house with a roof, a clean floor, heat, windows, blankets, insulation. Thank God, Chance, what-have-you that I was not born in that life. And these people try and get out of that kind of life, and the government comes along and razes their homes to the ground. And leaves.
