Super Bowl...and Fat Tuesday

Feb 08, 2005 19:02

My thoughts on the Super Bowl?
-I'm a Patriots fan, and very happy they won (GO PATS!)
-For once I thought that the right person received the MVP. While I would have liked to see Brady meet Joe Montana's record of 3 SB MVP's, I definitely think that Branch deserved it.
-Halftime?!?!?!?!?!

Insanely bo-ring! Besides the requisite fireworks, there were no FX except for the stage that Paul McCartney was on. There was no dancing...no nudity! I think my not being a Beatles fan has something to do with it. Sorry...I was raised on Elvis and classic country (yes, I know that Chrlie Daniels was on the pregame show, but I got my times wrong and missed the entire thing!). Come on, how many of those kids on the field knew who the hell he is? Now, what would have been cool is if when he did "Live and Let Die" Axl Rose and Slash had come out and joined him. Blame television or whatever, but I felt like falling asleep. In my opinion, the best ones over the past years have been Aerosmith/N'Sync and U2. And, of course, the country show when they played in Atlanta. End Rant.

Today is Fat Tuesday. I'm planning on going out with friends, even though the weather is sucky. It's one of the few days of the year when I can wear crazy makeup and no one thinks I'm strange (no comments from the peanut gallery!). I think I'll even break out the horns. I know that tommorrow begins Lent, but I'm not giving anything up. There's not much that I could...I don't drink that much, or even drink that much caffeine, or eat all that many sweets. If anyone in the Columbus area is going out, we'll be at Scruffy Murphy's. And if you aren't in the area...come on down and have fun with us anyway.
