This is brutal. I dislike all the candidates and fear what they will do. Sell this, cut that. Crazy, all of them. Pants sounds nice, but I don't see him as a leader.
The problem is that I can see the appeal of some of the things they are saying, but I don't think their plans will work great for the city. Money is the problem, of course. Cut the waste, get money from higher levels of government.
Sounds good, but how are you going to do this? People aren't against streetcars, they are against buses. Of course people love subways, but they are supremely expensive. So how to fix this? We'll see in a few weeks, whoever the winner is.
I think the problem is deeper than the city. Courtesy in general is very low here. Want to walk down the sidewalk? If a bunch of people are coming by, not one of them is going to give way. How about holding the door open for the person behind you?
I've taken to being brutal on the sidewalks if a group is coming towards me. Elbows out, big strides. I'm playing chicken and you'd better give way.
Politics really sucks when you don't like any of them. No hope, no confidence, just seeing who is the least dangerous.
