Might as well make a post here while I've got it on my mind. I don't understand what is going on with universities (colleges for you Americans) today. First of all, now they take attendance. Attendance! What the hell? You're paying for these classes, so it's on your head whether you show up or not. Getting marks just for being there? This is not high school where they can call your parents. You're supposed to be adults now, and you'll either go to class and learn, or skip and not.
Second, people being miserly with their notes. In the old days, before laptops were common, I can see where people might have been reluctant to share notes because it could have been a lot of work to take the time to copy them all down, but nowadays, it's as simple as 30 seconds of sending off an email with an attachment. Offering money for notes? Why can't we all just share in the spirit of fellow students, helping each other learn?
This seems to go on with the trend of people isolating themselves into cliques, segmented little kingdoms of pettiness.
