I have a cold.

Yep, it was mild for a couple of days, but last night my right nostril and sinus clogged up. I went to Shoppers and picked up a nose spray (on sale for $2.99!), a couple of packets of Fisherman's Friend (100 bonus Optimum points!), a couple of packets of this soft lozenge (another 100 points!), my multivitamins that were on sale, Jamieson vitamin E cream that was on sale and a box of fruit bar things that were on sale.

Then I went for pho, but many stores and restaurants along Spadina were closed at that time. Perhaps they were spooked by the news that the blackout was affecting Spadina? Pfft. I finally got to Pho Pasteur at College. They're meh, like Seattle-quality pho, but they had superior vegetables. Super-crisp bean sprouts and good-looking basil. Yay! No hot peppers, though. Meh, with being sick, I don't need to prove anything to myself.

I got home, tried reading a little Foucault, fell asleep, woke up and now cooked some choy sum with garlic and oyster sauce and am eating it with the cold grilled squid from Sushi on Bloor from a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, finding good sushi in Toronto will be a difficult quest. We did find a good seafood restaurant, so it's not all bad.

My mother has been a little difficult. She dropped off a bunch of groceries that we didn't really need or want, especially since there's a 24-hour supermarket next door, and Chinatown and Kensington Market just a few blocks away. Ugh, I've been eating my way through most of it, but she'd better not do that ever again. I've been doing just fine in the two and a half years I've been living in Seattle. I cooked, I er...okay, so I didn't clean...hahaha!

Yes. Well, I'm working on the cleaning part.

We miss our furniture and other goods. The good thing my mother did is bring over my sister's old desk chair, so one of us at least can sit on it and use the laptop and/or eat at the counter.

We've been looking at paint samples. I think I like the deeper green shade. It seemed pretty nice in the sunlight, another thing I much appreciate about the condo. No more looking at another building!

Squid is high in zinc, although a nice oyster would be even better, but I'll take what I've got. Orange juice in the fridge and we'll see me getting better soon. Right?
