[Upon the advice of her fellow passengers, Kara has found the object of her heart's desire. Is it a way off the boat? Someone from her homeworld

[Jet smirks at seeing the diner's rather 'healthy' appetite. Ohh he's been there, heck he still was really. It had taken a lot of pride and control not to overeat his first time he came to the buffet.]
"You got that right~"
[Now, rather than stuff his face all at once, he's actually been hoarding it- afraid this no-way-its-all-free deal would suddenly vanish without warning- and that's what he can presently be seen doing, discretely making off with a small loaf of bread under his arm while he walks past]
"I take it food wasn't too easy to come by in your home, either?"
[She raises an eyebrow, watching the stranger. While watching him, she pointedly crams another forkfull of food in her mouth. What she's trying to prove, she doesn't really know, or care.]
Only if you didn't have the cash for it.
[It's a flippant response. She flicks her eyes up and down him.]

"Thanks~"
[Jet just grins and shrugs in response. He gave up his shame a long time ago, though one might question if he ever had it before he first crossed paths with the Fire Nation]
"You could say 'I didn't have the cash for that' as well."
[Food had always been easier to come by than clothes. Leaning idly against the wall, Jet returned a stalk of wheat to his teeth]

[Going to go out on a limb and say those things mean discount]
"Try scrounge whatever you can off the battlefield~"
[Jet gives another airy shrug in agreement- food is a much more convenient topic for socializing. He helps himself to another bowl from the buffet but continues to stand while he eats.]
"Same here, can't say much for most this place, but the food is at least similar to what I know."
"Battlefield," [Jet confirms. Hey, he takes pride in being a survivor] "We have a war going on back home,"
[The Freedom Fighter pauses mid-bite to evaluate that particular bit of information and finishes the swallow by setting down his bowl at the opposite end of the stranger's table. He flashes a small crooked grin,]
[Her skepticism is probably obvious, despite the fact she's found herself magicked onto some random boat in the middle of nowhere, but, hey, she'll live in her delusions as long as she can.]
It's a "do whatever you want so long as I don't have to bury a corpse at sea".
[Kara's skeptical viewpoint doesn't much bother the Freedom Fighter. Jet will agree that ignorance is bliss; he's just never been lucky enough to have any]
[He laughs outright at her comment. Very nice,]
"Well I can respect that,"
[With that he fully seats himself]
"I'm Jet by the way, you got a name?"
[Well, it wouldn't be the first time he met someone who needed one]
[Jet notices nothing amiss. She's partially correct, the name did start out as an adopted alias, but its the truest name he goes by now. The Avatar world has no need for last names]
"Yeah? Well, you could say I do to make up for all the people who don't talk enough~"
[Oh Kara, he has that reaction to everybody's name- even Aang's. Poor girl needs to be complimented more. Jet shakes his head, but his trademark grin stays]
"It wasn't meant to be, but you're free to see it however you want,”
[Sorry babe, but you're not quite his type- anyhow, with Katara still lurking around Jet doesn't even want to think about any more potential revenge-seeking girlfriends. He's got enough problems without more flings. He slouches back lazily in an effort look more aloof and less forward.]
"I'm just a fellow refugee grabbing something to eat."

Clearly. Thrift-store basement best? Or... clearance rack?
[She shrugs. Food is way more interesting.]
Days ago, probably. Wasn't paying much attention.

[She stops, carrot halfway to her mouth, one eyebrow raised.]
... You know, people die eating standing up. They choke to death.

[It's all she says. If he's not going to hand out his whole name, she won't either. At least, she assumes he's only given her his first name.]
You talk a lot, you know that?

Are you feeding me a line, or what?
[Because, honestly, she can't quite tell if this is just a chat, or if he's looking for something here.]
