Birthday update fun

Jan 19, 2010 14:16

Well so my new years resolution to actually update more seems to already be falling through. I spent last week randomly scrolling through my old enteries and I have to say I'm kinda ashamed at myself for my complete lack of effort to update compared to my efforts in the past. Heck I use to have days where I updated up to three times in one day. It's not like I've fopund a new forum. I don't use facebook to post stuff like I post in here nor have a reverted to a paper journal. My Mom use to wonder if having a blog only served to continue bad or negative thoughts but since my moods seem to be as unstable whether I'm posting or not that kinda blows that theory out of the water...at least for me.

Anyway this weekend was fun. However it didn't really start off all that great. Saturday was just a ROUGH day at work. Not rough work wise. In fact things are going rather well work wise. After the whole "take control of boarding" talk I had I've put 110% of my effort into my job and have gotten positive feedback accordingly. No Saturday was rough cause it felt like everyone just died! The worst of it was we had to put down this old sweet dog we had taken into the adoption program due to a severe intestinal problem (I assisted in the autopsy). It was just a really somber day. I had planned to come home and do all kinds of cleaning and whatnot but I ended up just crashing on the couch letting my mind go blank.

While Dad and I went out on my actual birthday to see Sherlock Holmes- which I ended up really enjoying, Sunday was the planned date for the big family birthday (my last according to Mom until I turn 40). However first on Sunday I woke up at the ungodly hour of 9am to have Dim Sum with Elf and Derek, Ericka's boyfriend. Ericka was gonna come but she felt icky. We had fun though I only ate one thing. I'm just not a big fan of the stuff they serve nor can I really eat that early after waking up. But as I told the boys, I came for the company.

After they dropped me off I attacked my apartment- packing up all the Christmas stuff. This year I even took the tub of stuff down to my storage locker. Last year I just left it in the apartment which drove my Mom nuts lol. Once I was done I walked over to Staples to get some CD sleeves and a binder in order to organize the 3 spindles of burnt cds and dvds I had cluttering up my desk. Then at five Dad came and got me and we headed to their place for the party.

It was awesome seeing all my family, especially baby Francis- although she was a little cranky since it was close to her bedtime...next big family get together should be earlier in the afternoon I'm thinking. We all had pizza and homemade chocolate cake and I got a whack load of cool stuff:

*My cousin Nick got me an ACTUAL Snuggee (not the Cuddlee my brother got me...which I later found out the cats had peed on) which is leopard print and came with a neato booklight

*My cousin Nathan and his wife, and baby Francis got me a book about cats and a puzzle book for the bathroom

*My cousin Elsa and her husband got me a metal plaque that says "A home isn't a home without a cat" or something like that

*My second cousin Natalie got me a set of "Wet Cat Note cards" which I can't wait to send out to friends back east :)

*My aunt Judith and Uncle Peter got me a cd and a book, I can't remember the specific titles right now but the book was one I had written down a long time ago as something I wanted to read so that was cool

*And my parents got me an awesome frame which mom filled with pictures from Graeme's wedding and my trip back east, as well as a pic of me holding baby Frances. She included pics of Svet, Amy, Sean and both my friends Jason s. and Jason N. It was really nice. But the ultimate gift was my new Acer Netbook :) I asked for that at Christmas cause after Graeme's wedding and me having to run to my laptop twice just to empty my video camera so I could take more videos I realized come September when I'm in Scotland I'm gonna need something a bit more portable then an IBM thinkbook

It's little and blue and probably better then my actual laptop and desktop combined. I named it the Tardis lol. I'm thinking I may save up and get an additional little usb external hard drive to go with it since that way I can will the external hard drive with movies and entertainment stuff for the trip and the actual computer (all 160 gigs) with my photos and videos.

After the family party we swung by Elsa and Mark's on the way home and hung out for a bit which was fun.

Monday I managed to wake up ON TIME and took Logan to therapy. He had a good time since a bunch of our ladies were in bed, and he loves bed visits. After I got home I started a pre-clean since Mom was joining me at 1pm for a BIG CLEAN. We attacked everything and I finally got new vacuum bags which were BADLY BADLY needed. I've still got a few little things to tidy here and there for my friend party on Saturday. But as Ericka said when she, Elf and Derek came by at 4pm "Have I entered a different dimension?" LOL Gotta love a Mom clean.

Elf and Ericka and Derek came by at 4. They gave me my birthday gift- The Castle Boxset (which is soooooo awesome. I am totally addicted to Nathan Fillion commentary. I would hire him to do commentary on shows he wasn't even IN, that's how much I love them). Then Elf and I went on the balcony so he could show me how to use the joint rolling machine they had gotten me before for Christmas, since I have given them my stash to hold to make sure I don't smoke so much. I joked I could practice by rolling catnip joints for the kitties. Then we all enjoyed the lastest episode of Castle, Big Bang Theory and a few episodes of Spin City I had kicking about.

I spent the rest of Monday night (staying up FAR to late) exploring the Castle DVD boxset and cooing over the commentary and the dvds extras.

Tonight I really should go grocery shopping but I'll have to see how I feel when I'm done my shift and how the weather is. I really wanna go and try the ice skating at Mayfair Mall but I dunno if that's more a weekend thing or if I'll have enough energy to try going after work. This Thursday we have a staff meeting which means I'm gonna be stuck here from 4pm till 6pm when the actual meeting starts.

I'm looking forward to having my friend party this weekend. While its not really gonna be much different then any other party I've had in the past- videos, board games, and junk food- it'll still be fun.

My only source of worry right now is tied between Logan's health and my Grandma's health. Logan is maintaining weight wise but he still looks too skinny. He'll be going into the vet next Tuesday to recheck some blood work and whatnot. I just hate having to admit he's getting old. And in that same boat my Grandma isn't doing very well. She's back in the hospital, apparently having to be strapped down cause she keeps trying to leave when she's no where near healthy to do that. Dad had to fly out Monday for a business trip so he'll be swinging by Montreal on Thursday and staying till Sunday to help out. Graeme offered to go down as well. Mom knows I wish I could be there too and if I had the money/time I would fly there in a heart beat. It sounds like we might be nearing the end which is upsetting. Grandma Jean is my last grandparent left and we've been writing to each other since I was in University back in 2000. I hope she can rally and hold on a bit longer, but I suppose I should be greatful she was able to attend Graeme's wedding this past September.

Anyway phew that's it for now, but seriously I'm gonna try and update more then once every two weeks, if anything for my own personal archives since my memory stinks lol

family, birthday, logan
