Do not read if easily digusted. I made the mistake of talking about my job to a friend over MSN without warning him first and he ended up having to throw out his breakfast cause I grossed him out so bad, so I thought it best to put a warning first- gross stuff appears after the bold text since I'm too lazy to do a LJ cut
First of all- my shoulder is fine, after laying on the heating pad for a few hours I was back to normal. Granted that didn't help with my guilt over missing the therapy appointment. Fingers crossed nothing causes problems for me this coming Thursday, granted I'm gonna have that horrible spin class the night before *shudder*
But the rest of Thursday went well. Mom stopped by and we went and saw my Aunt's paintings on display at the Vancouver Island Art School. We also checked out this used book store, well it use to be a used book store. But it's changed hands and now is kinda a rebel/hippie store. It still has used books but it also has zines, t-shirts and allo kinds of other keen things. I'm gonna have to go back there by myself so I can browse more.
Then I went downtown. I finally got rid of a big stack of books I've been meaning to sell. Using the credit I got I picked up a Sark book I was missing and for 2 bucks I got a one a day cupcake calender. I've already been through the entire thing, throwing out the reciepes I didn't like (they snuck in a lot of gross sounding muffins) and putting the ones I wanna try into a box. I wanna start baking again. I use to bake a lot living in Guelph but ever since I started living on my own I stopped. I guess its kinda depressing baking for yourself but I figure if whatever I make turns out I can bring it into work and share. First though I need to update my kitchen. I need new (or used) baking pans, espeically for cupcakes and muffins since I only have one and you usually need two. I also need to stock up my baking supplies.
After the book shop I met up with Chrissie and Kim and we went and made our necklaces for Chrissie's wedding. Tomorrow I've gotta call the Build a Bear store to book Chrissie's bachelorette party since I've confirmed that I have the 27th off.
Saturday morning Dad and my uncle brough my parents old fridge, my new fridge, as well as a chair that use to be my Grandma and Grandpa Bell's and a wire closet sorter for my kitchen closet. After reloading the new fridge, it was very pitiful looking. The difference between a fridge that serves a family versus a single person is very obvious. Logan and Mona love the new chair and spent the entire afternoon curled up on it.
Mona unfortunately is still puking, though her last bout could have been caused by the bread she stole. I made a mistake of leaving my bag with bread in it out in the open and the little scamp ripped it open and ate the tops of a few slices. She is insane that cat
But anyway on the THE GROSS STUFF
The gods are conspiring against me to make me puke at work. I can handle gross stuff. I have held a dog's bladder during a surgery, I've wrapped up a horse's placenta, I've held a dog while the vet cut its skin, I've handles maggots and animals so encrusted with fleas their coats crackle when you brush them...so I can handle the grossness of my job
Except when it comes to eyes
Eye stuff still makes me shudder, makes me want to cover my eyes and hide.
Last week we had a puppy who had gotten kicked by a horse and got its eye popped out. Luckily they had fixed it before I arrived. Tonight though I wasn't so lucky. Apparently the dog in tonight had such a severe absess that its eye was pushed almost completely out of its head. They drained the absess but its eye is still squished to the side, making it look like some sort of mutant dog fish. The tech had put a "before" photo on one of the computers and kept trying to make me look at it. I ended up turning off the computer screen to avoid it.
I don't know what it is about eyes. Eyes belong IN heads I guess and my brain can't handle the idea of them not being IN HEADS.
I guess its just something I have to work on becoming desensitized too, until then...*shudder*
At least I've got new Doctor Who episodes to distract me. Huzzah David Tennant.
